HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - 2020.03.09 - 37344 March 9, 2020 Vice Chairperson Nelson called the meeting of the Legislative Affairs and Government Operations Committee to order at 9:40 a.m. in Committee Room A of the Commissioners’ Auditorium Wing, County Service Center in Pontiac, Michigan. MEMBERS PRESENT: Nancy Quarles, Kristen Nelson, Marcia Gershenson, Penny Luebs, Shelley Goodman Taub MEMBERS ABSENT WITH NOTICE: None APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES Taub moved approval of the minutes of February 24, 2020, as presented. Seconded by Luebs. Motion carried. APPROVAL OF THE AGENDA Vice Chairperson Nelson indicated that a letter of resignation from Commissioner Gingell has been submitted to the Legislative Affairs and Government Operations (LAGO) Committee, with an effective date of March 9, 2020. The letter will be added to today’s agenda as Communications B. There were no objections. Luebs moved approval of the agenda, as amended. Seconded by Taub. Motion carried. PUBLIC COMMENT None. COMMUNICATIONS A. Oxford Township Resolution in Opposition of the 2020 Regional Transit Authority Millage Proposal dated February 21, 2020 B. Letter of Resignation from LAGO Committee – Commissioner Michael Gingell Luebs moved to receive and file the Communications. Seconded by Taub. Motion carried. PRESENTATION – MICHIGAN STATE HOUSING DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY (MSHDA) Edwin Harlin, Director; Van Adams, Departmental Analyst; and Fred Durhal, Community Liaison, Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA), gave a presentation regarding Michigan Housing Outreach Initiatives. Gershenson moved to receive and file the PowerPoint document received from MSHDA. Seconded by Luebs. Motion carried. 2. UPDATE ON LEGISLATIVE ACTIVITIES Tyrone Sanders, Lobbyist, Public Affairs Associates, gave a brief update of pending State legislation. Quarles moved to receive and file the Bill Analysis document for Senate Bills 725 and 726. Seconded by Gershenson. Motion carried.
