To be successful, a District Court Clerk requires extensive training in complex case processing procedures, court rules, judicial requirements, and legislative requirements and specifically, Criminal Clerks require training in the court’s case management system as well as jail, and Secretary of State Systems. The Criminal Clerks are responsible for processing commitments to jail, issuing and recalling bench warrants, completing judgments of sentence, orders of probation and a variety of other complex administrative tasks which is a big investment in training time and resources for both the supervisors and the staff. This workload is better suited for a Full-Time Eligible (FTE) staff position. The 52-4 District Court is requesting to delete one (1) GF/GP PTNE 1,000 hours per year General Clerical position (#3020501-07269) and two (2) GF/GP PTNE 1,000 hours per year District Court Clerk positions (#3020501-12279 and 10134) within the 52-4 District Court Troy Division and requesting to create one (1) GF/GP FTE District Court Clerk position within the 52-4 District Court Troy Division (#3020501). NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Oakland County Board of Commissioners approves to delete one (1) GF/GP PTNE 1,000 hours per year General Clerical position (#3020501-07269) and two (2) GF/GP PTNE 1,000 hours per year District Court Clerk positions (#3020501-12279 and 10134) within the 52-4 District Court Troy Division.
