But each person’s chances of getting this cancer can be affected by certain risk factors; and WHEREAS the importance of education and knowledge about this disease cannot be overstated and contributes to the ability to lead a healthy, balanced, and productive life; and WHEREAS the good health and well-being of the residents of Oakland County are enhanced as a direct result of increased awareness about the symptoms and risk factors of pancreatic cancer, and research into early detection, causes, and effective treatments. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Oakland County Board of Commissioners declares November 17, 2022, as World Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Day in Oakland County. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Oakland County Clerk/Register of Deeds is directed to forward copies of the adopted resolution to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network - Detroit Affiliate.
