Re: Request to add a Patrol Deputy Position
Sheriff Bouchard,
At the January 3, 2023 regular Board of Trustees meeting, the Orion Township Board approved
a request to add one Uniform Patrol Deputy position beginning February 1, 2023. As requested
by Lt. Darren Ofiara, Orion Township Station Command, this position will provide coverage to
the 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM shift, with primary duties spent on proactive/reactive traffic
enforcement and weighmaster duties.
This position was included with the 2020 millage and was budgeted for in our 2023 budget
with an expected total yearly cost of approximately $147,635. This will bring staffing up to 26
uniformed Patrol Deputies.
Thank you for your support in this request for an additional Uniform Patrol Deputy position in
Orion Township. Please do let me know should you require any additional information.
Sincerely,
Chris Barnett
Orion Township Supervisor
