ITEM CATEGORY SPONSORED BY Interlocal Agreement Amendment Penny Luebs INTRODUCTION AND BACKGROUND The Charter Township of Orion has contracted with the Oakland County Sheriff's Office to provide law enforcement services for the Township (M.R. #21523) and paragraph 29 of the agreement provided that an amendment to this agreement must be approved by a resolution of the Oakland County Board of Commissioners and the Charter Township of Orion. This is a request to amend the 2022-2024 Law Enforcement Agreement with the Charter Township of Orion by adding one (1) Deputy II (no-fill) position beginning on February 25, 2023 and continuing until the current agreement expires or is terminated. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Oakland County Board of Commissioners approves and authorizes its Chairperson to sign Amendment #1 to the original Oakland County Sheriff's Office 2022 – 2024 Law Enforcement Services Agreement with the Charter Township of Orion. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED to create one (1) GF/GP full-time eligible Deputy II position in the Sheriff’s Office, Patrol Services Division, Orion Unit (#4030625). BE IF FURTHER RESOLVED that one (1) marked patrol vehicle with mobile radio, MDC, and Video Camera be added to the County fleet to satisfy the requirements of Amendment #1. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that one (1) cell phone, one (1) body-worn camera and one (1) prep radio be added to inventory to satisfy the requirements of Amendment #1. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the future level of service, including the continuation of position(s), is contingent upon the level of funding associated with this agreement. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this amendment will take effect February 25, 2023 and continue until the current agreement expires or is terminated. The attached Exhibit 1 replaces and supersedes the Schedule A attached to the Agreement beginning on the effective date of this Amendment 1. This Amendment 1 shall take effect on February 25, 2023 and shall continue until the Agreement expires or is terminated. All other provisions in the Agreement not otherwise affected by the attached Exhibit 1 remain in full force and effect. FOR AND IN CONSIDERATION of the mutual assurances, promises, acknowledgments, set forth in this Amendment 1 and for other good and valuable consideration, the receipt and adequacy of which is hereby acknowledged, the undersigned hereby execute this Amendment 1 on behalf of the Parties, and by doing so legally obligate and bind the Parties to the terms and conditions of this Amendment 1. Telegraph Road Building 38E Pontiac, MI 48341 Re: Request to add a Patrol Deputy Position Sheriff Bouchard, At the January 3, 2023 regular Board of Trustees meeting, the Orion Township Board approved a request to add one Uniform Patrol Deputy position beginning February 1, 2023. As requested by Lt. Darren Ofiara, Orion Township Station Command, this position will provide coverage to the 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM shift, with primary duties spent on proactive/reactive traffic enforcement and weighmaster duties. This position was included with the 2020 millage and was budgeted for in our 2023 budget with an expected total yearly cost of approximately $147,635. This will bring staffing up to 26 uniformed Patrol Deputies. Thank you for your support in this request for an additional Uniform Patrol Deputy position in Orion Township.
