ITEM CATEGORY SPONSORED BY Collective Bargaining Agreement Gary McGillivray INTRODUCTION AND BACKGROUND The County of Oakland and the United Auto Workers, Local 889 (UAW), entered into a Collective Bargaining Agreement covering approximately fourteen (14) Clerk/Register of Deeds supervisory employees (M.R. #20637). The County of Oakland and the United Auto Workers, Local 889 (UAW) have negotiated a supplemental Agreement for sixteen (16) non-supervisory employees in the Water Resources Commissioners. The parties agreed the classifications of Construction Inspector I, Construction Inspector II, Construction Inspector III, Construction Inspector IV, and Survey Party Supervisor will be represented by this bargaining unit for the period February 24, 2023, through September 30, 2024. This agreement addresses the following items: • Shift premium • Boot & uniform allowance • Work Schedules • Holiday, Overtime, and On-Call Pay • Vehicle Use POLICY ANALYSIS The ratification vote was held on 3/2/2023. All members voted in favor of the agreement. Note: The Board recently approved a CBA for non-supervisory employees in the WRC with IBEW. Employees are free to join whatever union they want by department or classification. The UAW and IBEW currently both represent groups of employees in the Water Resources Commissioner’s Office. This group chose to join the UAW by classification. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Commissioners approves the proposed Supplemental Agreement between the County of Oakland and the United Auto Workers, Local 889, covering the period of February 24, 2023, through September 30, 2024, for non- supervisory employees in the Water Resources Commissioner's Office. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED the Board Chairperson, on behalf of the County of Oakland, is authorized to execute said supplemental agreements as attached.
