January 25, 1967
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Frances Clark at 9:30 a.m.
in the Conference Room, Auditorium Wing, Service Center, Pontiac, Mich.
COMMITTEE MEMBERS PRESENT:
Frances Clark; Chairman, John L. Carey, Vice Chairman; Robert P. Allen,
Clarence A. Durbin, Dorothy Olson, Frazier Stamen.
OTHERS PRESENT:
Parks and Recreation Department
Kenneth L. VanNatta, Director
ABSENT:
Velma Austin, Daniel Barry, Donald A. Kalmbach, and Daniel Murphy.
Minutes of the November 30th meeting were approved.
Elections of Officers for 1967 was held.
Moved by John Carey, supported by Allen, that Chairman Mrs. Clark be
nominated for Chairman.
Moved by Mrs. Olson, seconded by Clarence Durbin, nominations be
Closed. Mrs. Clark elected to 1967 term as Chairman by Unanimous
vote.
Moved by Mrs. Olson, supported by Robert Allen, that Vice -Chairman
John Carey be nominated as Vice -Chairman. Moved By Clarence Durbin,
seconded by Frazier Stamen, nominations be closed.
John Carey elected to 1967 term as Vice -Chairman by unanimous vote.
Moved by Mrs. Olson, seconded by Clarence Durbin, that Mrs. Austin
be nominated for Secretary. Moved by John Carey, seconded by
Robert Allen, that nominations be closed.
Mrs. Austin was elected as Secretary for the 1967 term by unanimous
vote.
Director, Ken Van Natta reported on possible park sites and the
progress status.
Possibility of early appraisals for Road Commission site and others
were discussed.
Mr. Van Natta reported on meeting with Conservation Department and
their present position to assist with financial aid.
The establishment of a State-wide Citizens Action Committee for
Michigan Recreation was discussed.
The Clinton River Flood plan study was discussed, and the part
that the Huron Clinton Metro. Authority was to play was reviewed.
Meeting was adjourned at 11:45 a.m.
