November 8, 1967
The meeting was called to order at 10:00 a.m., at the Supervisors
Auditorium, Oakland County.
COMMISSION MEMBERS PRESENT:
Frances Clark, Chairman; Robert Allen, Velma Austin, Dorothy
Olson, Daniel Barry, Frazer Staman, Clarence Durbin, Daniel T.
Murphy.
COMMISSION MEMBERS ABSENT:
John Carey and Donald Kalmbach.
OTHERS PRESENT:
Kenneth L. Van Natta, Director and Gerard Lacey.
The commission met with Mr. Van Arsdel at the site, viewed
property and toured immediate area.
The property, located East of M 24 on the North County line,
consists of some 340 acres. It has both high and low areas,
two small 10 acre lakes and some 1500' on the Flint River.
The water supply is good and both lakes deep and spring fed,
clean and presumably unpolluted. Lake shores soft with no
beach areas - lakes could be connected and enlarged - considerable
expense could be involved. Very attractive stands of coniferous
trees presently around lakes. Tamarack and white cedar and
dense poplar growth abounds, together with many desirable
deciduous varieties. Expense of cleaning area may be large
depending on eventual type of usage.
The high area has a good woods area of native deciduous trees
and very scenic views. This part of the property is presumed
to have heavy gravel deposits.
The asking price is $700.00 to $800.00 per acre - probably
$700.00 to County.
Chairman Frances Clark authorized meeting to be called November
16, 1967 for discussion of property and decision.
Meeting adjourned at 2:15 p.m.
