December 20 1968
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Mrs. Clark, at 12:00
noon, at Groveland-Oaks.
COMMISSION MEMBERS PRESENT:
Chairman Frances Clark, Vice Chairman John Carey, Secretary Velma
Austin, Daniel Murphy, James Reid, Frazer Staman, Donald Kalmbach,
Daniel Barry.
COMMISSION MEMBERS ABSENT:
Henry Schiffer, Clarence Durbin.

Director Kenneth Van Natta.
Mr. Van Natta presented the 1969 Administrative Budget request to
the Commission. He explained to them that the Oakland County Parks
employees are now under the Oakland County Merit System and that
the salaries for Park Personnel are the same as set by the Oakland
County Personnel Policy Committee.
A letter received from the City of Clawson, requesting the Park
Commission to take necessary action to acquire the Sylvan Glen Golf
Course property for a recreational facility, was read to the
Commission. After much discussion, the Commission instructed Mr.
Van Natta to send a letter of acknowledgment to the City of Clawson.
Mr. Van Natta explained to the Commission the standing of the new
acquisition for a park site. It was decided that after this
acquisition we would concentrate on development of the various parks,
unless there was an exceptional piece of property made available to
US.
Mr. Barry arrived late at the meeting and he was briefed on the
discussion that had taken place. There was further discussion. Mr.
Barry requested a financial projection of our estimated income
for the life of the special millage; How much was to be earmarked
for acquisition and, How much for development. The Director will
mail this to all Commission members.
Moved by Mr. Carey, supported by Mr. Staman, that
the meeting be adjourned.
Motion carried.
