May 22, 1968
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Frances Clark, at
10:30 a.m., at Supervisor's Auditorium.
COMMISSION MEMBERS PRESENT:
Chairman Frances Clark, Vice Chairman John Carey, Secretary Velma
Austin, Clarence Durbin, Daniel Murphy, James Reid and Henry
Schiffer.
COMMISSION MEMBERS ABSENT:
Donald Kalmbach, Daniel Barry and Frazer Staman.
OTHERS PRESENT:
Director Kenneth Van Natta.
Members left the courthouse area for a physical review of proposed
Davisburg Golf Course Clubhouse site.
Visited the Road Commission site.
Visited and reviewed the Holly Greens Clubhouse and facilities.
Mr. Van Natta informed the Commission that the special study group,
for the retaining of an architect, recommended two for their
consideration; Smith & Smith and Gilbert Savage. Discussion
followed.
Moved by Carey, supported by Schiffer, that the Park
Commission retain Savage as their architect for the
specific purpose of designing a clubhouse and
maintenance residence at Davisburg Golf Course.
Motion carried. All members present voting aye.
Groveland Park was next visited and the grounds toured. The
property lying Northwest of present park which we presently have
under option was viewed.
Returned to courthouse at 4:00 p.m.
Meeting adjourned at that time.
