The special meeting was called for the purpose of discussing

Guided group tours of the Parks - League of Women
Voters, church groups, service groups, etc. Tours
for city officials on designated days.

to various groups. Also, slide presentation which
is now being compiled.
Contact all local union recreation and senior
citizen directors for mailing lists. Also, O.E.O.,
Mrs. Solberg, Mr. Reeves, Mr. Baxster.
The purpose of the millage renewal was discussed. It was ex-
plained that it was for acquisition and development of a

It was suggested that our best approach would be to show what
we have accomplished to date and the growing need for more parks.

Legal Advertiser
Channel 50 - Lou Gordon
Mort Neff - Gerry Chiappetta
Gordie Howe - Al Kaline
After some discussion concerning professional promotional
help, it was decided that all promotion for the millage would
be cleared by the Parks Commission and staff, and that a
public relation professional was not desirable but that addi-
tional help may be necessary.
Endorsement by both political parties should be obtained.
Suggested slogan for pamphlet was:
"It was a good buy then -
A better buy today."
Mr. Van Natta suggested that in addition to publishing the
Park rules in the Pontiac Press, we may wish to also publish
them in the Royal Oak Tribune and the county edition of the
Detroit News. After some discussion it was decided to publish
the rules in the smaller papers such as Interlake News, The
Spinal Column and Lakeland Tribune.
Discussion followed concerning a request from the State of
Michigan of the possibility of the County Parks and Recreation
managing a recreation center in Royal Oak Township. The state
would absorb all cost of development and would then transfer
the recreation center to the Parks Commission to maintain and
control. After discussion it was decided to consider the re-
quest, but more information was needed before a firm answer
could be given.
Moved by Mr. Durbin, supported by Mr. Schiffer
that meeting be adjourned.
Motion carried.
Meeting adjourned at 11:45 a.m.
