May 21, 1971
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Frances Clark at
9:30 a.m. in the Parks and Recreation Commission room.
COMMISSION MEMBERS PRESENT:
Chairman Clark,, Vice Chairman Austin, Secretary Schiffer, Mr.
Barry, Mr. Durbin, Mr. Mainland, Mr. McGovern, Mr. O'Brien,
Mr. Nick and Mr. Richardson.
ALSO PRESENT:
Mr. Van Natta
Moved by Mr. Mainland, supported by Mr. Nick, that
the minutes of April 30, 1971 be approved as
written.
Abstained: Mr. Durbin
Motion carried.
Moved by Mr. Nick, supported by Mr. Mainland, that
the minutes of May 16, 1971 be approved as written.
Motion carried.
The statement of operations for the period January 1 through
April 30, 1971 was reviewed and accepted.
Discussion followed concerning the June 3, 1971 luncheon for
the County Board of Commissioners. Because of a time element
a special Parks and Recreation Commission meeting will be held
to review architects' presentation for the Springfield -Oaks
clubhouse and to select the architect.
Exterior drawings of the Addison -Oaks concession building were
viewed. These were presented for approval of concept in order
for the director to proceed with Gil Savage, the architect, on
final drawings and bid specifications.
Moved by Mr. Richardson, supported by Mrs. Austin,
that the Commission approve the concept of the
Addison -Oaks concession building as presented.
Motion carried.

Two concepts of a clubhouse for the Springfield -Oaks Golf
Course were presented. Discussion followed.
Moved by Mr. Richardson, supported by Mr. O'Brien,
that the director contact Mr. Gil Savage and other
architects to arrive at a concept for the Springfield -
Oaks clubhouse.
Motion carried.
Mr. Nick requested that discussion concerning a joint meeting
with the Planning Commission and consideration of having a
movie made of the parks progress be placed on the next meeting
agenda.
Moved by Mr. Schiffer, supported by Mr. O'Brien,
that the meeting be adjourned.
The meeting adjourned at 11:30 a.m.
A tour and luncheon followed at White Lake -Oaks.
