October 8, 1971
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Frances Clark at
9:45 a.m. in the Parks and Recreation Commission room.
COMMISSION MEMBERS PRESENT:
Chairman Clark, Vice Chairman Austin, Secretary Schiffer, Mr.
Durbin, Mr. Mainland, Mr. McGovern, Mr. Nick and Mr. O'Brien.
COMMISSION MEMBERS ABSENT:
Mr. Barry and Mr. Richardson
ALSO PRESENT:
Mr. Van Natta
Moved by Mr. Nick, supported by Mr. Durbin that
the minutes of September 17, 1971 be approved
with the following correction:
Mr. Durbin's suggestion of inserting F.H.A. conditions
be corrected to read F.H.A. "minimum construction re-
quirements."
Motion carried.
Discussion followed concerning public relations and hiring a
person to do this job. Mr. Van Natta said he would gather
information about this to present to the Commission.
The operating budget was discussed.
Moved by Mr. McGovern, supported by Mr. Durbin
that the statements of operations be accepted.
Motion carried.
The Commissioners left for a field trip to review physical
property at Springfield -Oaks. Clubhouse site was reviewed.
New parking lot, new lake, equipment building site, 4-H
Fairgrounds and mill pond site were also reviewed.
Moved by Mr. Durbin, supported by Mr. McGovern
that the meeting be adjourned.
Motion carried.

Mrs. Clark, Mrs. Austin, Mr. McGovern and Mr. O'Brien pro-
ceeded to Independence -Oaks with Mr. Van Natta for a review
of that property.
