January 5, 1971
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Frances Clark
at 9:45 a.m. in the Parks and Recreation Commission room.
COMMISSION MEMBERS PRESENT:
Chairman Frances Clark, Vice Chairman Clarence Durbin,
Secretary Velma Austin, Henry Schiffer, James Reid,
Thomas Dillon, Daniel Barry, Carl O'Brien.
COMMISSION MEMBERS ABSENT:
Frank Richardson, Sol Lomerson.
ALSO PRESENT:
Mr. Kenneth Van Natta, Hugo Slotkin.
Mr. Van Natta presented a request from Mr. Ed Wichert to
appear before the Commission for a presentation of a
possible land acquisition. Discussion followed.
Moved by Mr. O'Brien, supported by Mr. Durbin
that the request to address the Commission be
approved.
Motion carried.
In response to the invitation of the December 18th
meeting, Mr. Slotkin addressed the Commission on areas of
problems in the food service industry. Discussion
followed. Questions and information were exchanged en-
deavoring to assist the Commission in making a policy
decision.
Mr. Barry and Mr. O'Brien asked to be excused from the
meeting because of other engagements.
More discussion on food service policy followed.
Mr. Durbin asked Mr. Slotkin if he would contribute his
time and knowledge to work with Van Natta in endeavoring to
get a projection together that may assist the Commission in
making a decision. Mr. Slotkin agreed and Mr. Van Natta was
directed to work with him to gather additional information.
Moved by Mr. Schiffer, seconded by Mrs. Austin
that the meeting be adjourned.
Motion carried.
Meeting adjourned at 12:00.
