Clark at 9:45 a.m, in the Parks and Recreation Commission room. COMMISSION MEMBERS PRESENT: Chairman Clark, Vice Chairman Nick, Secretary Schiffer, Mr. Durbin, Mr. Mainland, Mr. McGovern and Mr. Richardson. COMMISSION MEMBERS ABSENT: Mr. Jawors, Mr. O'Brien and Mr. Richards. ALSO PRESENT: Mr. Reickel and Mrs. McCormick Approval of Minutes Moved by Mr. McGovern, supported by Mr. Schiffer to approve the minutes of October 13, 1972 as written. Motion carried. Approval of Payments Moved by Mr. Durbin, supported by Mr. Mainland to approve the payments of Vouchers 10-1 through 10-108. Motion carried. Old Business Deputy Director Mr. Reickel reported on his interviews with the top five (5) candidates for the position of Deputy Director. The recommendation for Deputy Director was Mr. Jon Kipke, City of Ferndale Parks and Recreation. The Director stated for the record, Mr. Schiffer has never involved himself in this action of choosing the Deputy Director. Mr. Schiffer stated he was sorry to be losing Mr. Kipke from the City of Ferndale, but would not stand in his way. Page 2 (Commission Meeting October 27, 1972) Moved by Mr. Mainland, supported by Mr. McGovern to concur with the recommendation of the Director in his choice of Mr. Kipke's appointment as Deputy Director of Parks and Recreation and the starting salary to be set at $17,640.00. Motion carried. Waterford -Oaks - Pool 10-Meter Diving Tower Mr. Reickel reported after some research, it was felt the 10-meter diving tower should be in the main pool and not as a seperate unit. Moved by Mr. Schiffer, supported by Mr. Durbin to proceed with the concept of the 10-meter diving tower in the main pool area. Motion carried. New Business Madison Heights Resolution The resolution passed by Madison Heights Chamber of Commerce, stating their opposition to liquor licenses for governmental units, was discussed. Mr. Reickel is to forward an appropriate response to Madison Heights and Mr. Pernick, Chairman of County Commissioners. Meeting date The second Commission meeting for November was set for November 22, 1972 because of Thanksgiving holiday. The meeting adjourned for a tour of the Parks.
