Clark at 9:45 a.m. in the Parks and Recreation Commission room. COMMISSION MEMBERS PRESENT: Chairman Clark, Vice Chairman Nick, Secretary Schiffer, Mr. Mainland, Mr. McGovern, Mr. O'Brien, Mr. Richards and Mr. Richardson. COMMISSION MEMBERS ABSENT: Mr. Durbin and Mr. Jawors. ALSO PRESENT: Mr. Reickel, Mrs. McCormick and Mr. Joachim, Swanson Associates. ADDroval of Minutes Moved by Mr. Schiffer, supported by Mr. Mainland, to approve the minutes of September 8, 1972 as written. Motion carried. Approval of Payments Moved by Mr. Richards, supported by Mr. Mainland, to approve payment of Vouchers 8-161 through 8-215 and 9-1 through 9-74. Motion carried. Mr. Reickel was requested to gather some information regarding contracts for the garbage collection at the parks for 1973. Waterford -Oaks - Swimming Pool Mr. Joachim presented a brief summary on cost of the pool complex at Waterford. The approximate cost for an Olympic pool to be $1,362,400.00. Moved by Mr. McGovern, supported by Mr. Schiffer, to give architect approval to proceed with plans for the pool complex at Waterford -Oaks. Page 2 (Commission Meeting 9/22/72) Discussion followed concerning the pool usage and size. Mr. Reickel explained that for the present all that was necessary was approval of the concept so program could be presented to the State. Mr. McGovern and Mr. Schiffer withdrew the motion. Moved by Mr. Mainland, supported by Mr. Nick, to accept and approve the pool concept as submitted, and request the Director, in cooperation with Swanson Associates, to continue with the plans. Motion carried. White Lake -Oaks Right-of-Wav Dedication Mr. Reickel presented a request from the Oakland County Road Commission for a resolution dedicating 27 feet of additional right-of-way required to conform to the 60 foot Master Plan Right -of -Way for Williams Lake Road. This is necessary due to the black topping at White Lake. Moved by Mr. Schiffer, supported by Mr. Mainland, that the Oakland County Parks and Recreation Commission dedicate 27 feet of additional right- of-way to conform to the 60 foot Master Plan Right -of -Way of the Oakland County Road Commission. Motion carried. Freezer -Cooler Bids The four bids received for the Freezer -Cooler for Addison -Oaks, Tuesday September 19, 1972 at 2:00 p.m., reviewed by Mr. McGovern and Mr. Richardson, members of the Building Committee, were: General Electrical -Mechanical $ 28,737.00 Waterford Construction $ 32,900.00 Gold Star Products $ 34,150.00 F. D. Stella $ 35,320.00 Moved by Mr. Nick, supported by Mr. Richards, to award the contract for the Freezer -Cooler at Addison -Oaks to General Electrical -Mechanical, Inc. Cost to be $ 28,737.00. NEW BUSINESS Keift Engineering Contract Mr. Reickel reported that Keift Engineering has been contracted to do the land survey for fencing around Groveland, Springfield, and the back section of White Lake. Page 3 (Commission Meeting 9/22/72) Groveland-Oaks Entrance Design for the entrance road and de-excelleration lane at Groveland was discussed. Moved by Mr. Richards, supported by Mr. Richardson, that D.F.O. proceed with the design of the Groveland entrance road and de-excelleration lane. Motion carried. Liquor Control Commission Hearing for Springfield -Oaks Mr. Reickel reported he attended a Liquor Control Commission hear- ing regarding the license for Springfield. Results of the meeting are unknown at this time. Mr. Reickel stated that he was disap- pointed with the opponents of our issuance of a license because of their false allegations, assumptions and lack of facts. Acting Food and Beverage Director The Food Service Division was discussed. Mr. Reickel advised the Commission that Mr. Wyant is now Acting Food and Beverage Director and due to his added responsibilities it was felt his present salary of $13,125.00 to be inadequate compared with his assigned responsi- bilities. He also reported a car will be issued to Mr. Wyant. Moved by Mr. Richards, supported by Mr. Schiffer, authorizing the Director to draw up a new contract for Mr. Wyant with yearly salary of $15,000.00 and approving the issuance of a Commission car to carry out his duties. Motion carried. OLD BUSINESS Springfield -Oaks Clubhouse Dedication Mr. Reickel reported that Mr. Lacey was working out the plans for the dedication of the Springfield -Oaks Clubhouse on October 14, 1972. Deputy Director The interviews for Deputy Director are scheduled for September 26 and 27. The Director will submit the top five candidates for Commission review, the first meeting in October.
