Frank Richardson in the Parks and Recreation Commission Room. COMMISSION MEMBERS PRESENT: Chairman Richardson, Vice Chairman Dunleavy, Secretary Wint, Velma Austin, Fred Harris, Dr. Montante, Richard Vogt, Richard Wilcox. COMMISSION MEMBERS ABSENT: George Kuhn ALSO PRESENT: R. Eric Reickel; Robert Bomia; Pauline McCormick; Tom Jackson; Vic Chiasson; Milton Handorf, Director of Planning & Physical Development; Ted Dziurman, DFO; Betty Fortino, County Commissioner; Pat Daly, County Commissioner; Joseph Seavey and Jim Beers, Department of Natural Resources; Jack Anderson and John Lesniak, Anderson/Lesniak Associates; Jim Perry, Oak Park Parks and Recreation; Dick Potter, Tennis Consultant; Ralph Richard, Waterford Parks and Recreation; Bill Luddy and Bob Salogar, Anthony M. WATERFORD-OAKS MASTER PLAN: Mr. Reickel explained the Waterford -Oaks Master Plan had been reanalyzed after the original master plans swim center proved prohibitive due to spiraling material and labor cost. Jack Anderson, Anderson/Lesniak Associates, presented a slide presentation of the revised plan which includes a WaveTek Pool, tennis stadium with seating capacity for 8,500 people, 24 tennis courts, handball courts, archery, bicycle paths, deck tennis, baseball -softball diamonds, children's petting zoo, lawn game area for retirees, etc. As stated in the Program Statement (see attached) prepared by the Oakland County Parks and Recreation Commission for presentation to the Department of Natural Resources, first phase of development would include a WaveTek Pool, a bathhouse, entrance road, utilities, parking lot and picnic area at an estimated cost of $1.25 to $1.5 million. Phase I development would necessitate acquiring an additional 14 acres of property. Moved by Mr. Wint, supported by Mr. Wilcox to approve the Program Statement and Phase I Development of Waterford -Oaks Park and enter into initial negotiations for additional purchase of property. The Program Statement will be presented to the Department of Natural Resources and then forwarded to the Capital Outlay Committee for review and approval, as per request of Senator Bill S. Huffman.
