Frank Richardson. COMMISSION MEMBERS PRESENT: Chairman E. Frank Richardson, Secretary Vogt, Don Deni, Betty Fortino, George Kuhn, Dr. Joseph Montante, Lewis Wint. COMMISSION MEMBERS ABSENT: Vice -Chairman Marjorie Walker, John R. Gnau, Jr. ALSO PRESENT: R. Eric Reickel; Jon J. Kipke; Chuck Ross; Arnold Johnston; Gerald Mitchell, Facilities and Operations; Bob Salogar, Anthony M. Franco, Inc.; Nancy Proper, Field Representative, 7-11 Stores; Peter Gout, Lakeville Gas Associates;.Lisa Bartuska, Pennsylvania State University; Bill Willoughby, The Daily Tribune. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Moved by Mrs. Fortino, supported by Mr. Deni to approve the minutes of August 9, 1977, as written. Motion carried. ACTIVITIES REPORT: Moved by Mr. Wint, supported by Mrs. Fortino to receive the Activities Report for July, 1977. Motion carried. MUSCULAR DYSTROPHY CONCERT - SPRINGFIELD-OAKS Y.A.C.: Copies of the agreement between the Oakland County Parks and Recreation Commission and the Southland Corporation were distributed to the Commissioners. Mr. Reickel stated the $500 security deposit had been received. Discussion followed. Moved by Dr. Montante, supported by Mr. Vogt to amend the agreement on Page It by adding the following paragraph: 11#5. To waive the fee of $500 if sales are less than 4,000 tickets; if ticket sales exceed 4,000, the fee shall be assessed as rental." (Commission Meeting, August 9, 1977) -- 2 ROLL C-! Moved by Mrs. Fortino, supported by Mr. Kuhn to approve the contract as amended and authorize the Chairman of the Commission to sign the agreement between Oakland County Parks and Recreation Commission and Southland Corporation. ROLL CALL VOTE: AYES: Kuhn, Montante, Vogt, Wint, Deni, Fortino, Richardson (7) NAYS: (0) A sufficient majority having voted therefor, the motion carried. DIRECTOR'S REPORT: ---Gerald Mitchell, Facilities and Operations, presented a proposed solution for the supplemental water supply at Red -Oaks. An extension of 200 feet could be made to the present water main, with a meter added to the hydrant. The Commission 1 would pay only for the water used. The initial cost of the extension is approxi- mately $3,400. Moved by Mrs. Fortino, supported by Dr. Montante to approve the expenditures to extend the water line at Red -Oaks Golf Course. ROLL CALL VOTE: AYES: Kuhn, Montante, Vogt, Wint, Deni, Fortino, Richardson (7) NAYS: (0) A sufficient majority having voted therefor, the motion carried. ---Peter Gout, Lakeville Gas Associates, reported on his company's seismograph tests at Addison -Oaks. He suggested that there were fair results. ---Lisa Bartuska, Pennsylvania State University, reported the results of a survey she conducted at the Wave Pool. Moved by Mr. Kuhn, supported by Mr. Wint to accept the report and to have staff make a recommendation on the survey's comments for possible Inclusion into 1978's operation. The Commission will send a letter to Pennsylvania State University expressing its appreciation of Lisa's work during her stay in Oakland County. otion carried unanimously. Commission sugges_.ed Se positions remain unfunded until the C.E.T.A. program ends. ---Mr. Reickel requested Commission authorization to sign the "Assurance of Compliance" for the grant for Groveland-Oaks. Moved by Dr. Montante, supported by Mrs. Fortino to authorize the Chairman of the Oakland County Parks and Recreation Commission to sign the "Assurance of Compliance" form for the grant for Groveland- Oaks. Motion carried. ---The Commission received a thank -you note from the Luddy family, for its memorial contribution to the American Cancer Society - Oakland County. ---Representative Claude Trim will chair a hearing on Public Act 139, August 15, 1977, at 7:30 p.m. in Kalamazoo. ---Staff recommended hiring Janz & Knight for the 1977 audit. Moved by Dr. Montante, supported by Mrs. Fortino to hire Janz & Knight for the 1977 audit. Motion carried. ---Commission received a financial report on the Arlo Flesher Memorial Tournament. ---Copies distributed of a summary of the concessionaire sales for the first six months of 1977. ---Commission received copies of the financial report for the antique car show that was held at Springfield -Oaks Y.A.C. The Commission adjourned at 12:30 p.m. to go into executive session. The Commission meeting reconvened at 12:50 p.m. COMMISSION MEMBERS PRESENT: Chairman E. Groehn submitted a letter to the Commission offering 93.56 acres of land adjacent to Addison -Oaks. Discussion followed. The Commission also received an offer from Mr. Pauloski to sell 41.96 acres, adjacent to White Lake -Oaks, for $89,000. Discussion followed. Moved by Mrs. Fortino, supported by Mr. Vogt to reject property priced at $89,000; Commission might give consideration to same proposal at reasonable purchase price.
