PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION MEETING
December 1, 1978
The meeting was called to order at 9:55 a.m. by Chairman Lewis Wint in the
Parks and Recreation Commission Room.
COMMISSION MEMBERS PRESENT:
Chairman Lewis Wint, Vice Chairman Marjorie Walker, Secretary Betty Fortino,
Don Deni, George Kuhn, Dr. Joseph Montante, Richard Vogt, Richard Wilcox.
COMMISSION MEMBERS ABSENT:
John Gnau

APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
Moved by Mrs. Fortino, supported by Dr. Montante to approve
the minutes of the regular meeting and budget session of
November 17, 1978, and the minutes of the budget meeting
of November 24, 1978, as written.
Motion carried.
APPROVAL OF VOUCHERS:
Moved by Mr. Kuhn, supported by Mr. Vogt to approve payment
of Vouchers 11-101 through 11-206.

NAYS: (0)
A sufficient majority having voted therefor, the motion
carried.
ADDISON-OAKS, SNOWMOBILE:
The following bids were received by the Purchasing Department for a snowmobile
for Addison -Oaks:
Artic Cat Inc. $1,892.00
(GSA price - Set-up and delivery included)
M. G. Sales 2,150.00
Panther Pontiac 2,299.00

All prices quoted were on an ElTigre 5000 with tachometer, speedometer, mirror
and clawed Track. Money for the purchase is included in the 1979 Capital
Budget.
Staff recommended the bid be awarded to the low bidder, Artic Cat, Inc.,
for $1,892.00.
Moved by Mr. Wilcox, supported by Mr. Vogt to accept
the low bid of $1,892.00 from Artic Cat, Inc., for a
snowmobile at Addison -Oaks.

ADDISON-OAKS. POOL HEATER:
Bids were received by the Purchasing Department for a replacement pool heater
for Addison -Oaks as follows:

Staff recommended purchasing the pool heater from the low bidder, the
Nelson Company.
Moved by Dr. Montante, supported by Mr. Kuhn to purchase
a pool heater for Addison -Oaks from the low bidder, the
Nelson Company for $1,125.00.

Moved by Mr. Kuhn, supported by Dr. Montante to go out on
a dual program; obtain five or six proposals for the "design
and build" concept as opposed to architectural services only.

MANAGER'S REPORT:
---Distributed news articles and letter pertaining to Senator Proxmire and
the proposed Salt Lake City wave pool.
---Received invitation to attend the State Poly Hockey Tournament conducted
by -the Oakland County Special Olympics; Troy High School, December 9, 8:30 a.m.
to 4:00 p.m.
---Fall edition of the Acorn has been mailed.
---M.R.P.A. Annual Winter Conference, Hyatt Regency in Dearborn, January 21 to
24, 1979. Mr: Reickel will be the moderator for a seminar that Anthony M.
Franco, Inc. will conduct for park professionals.
Commissioner Walker stated the main banquet would be held on Sunday,
January 21, The Department of Natural Resources will host a public
hearing on the State Recreation Plan prior to the banquet and Park Commissioners
will be asked to attend.
