HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - 1978.11.02 - 38640OAKLAND COUNTY PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION SPECIAL MEETING November 24, 1978 The meeting was called to order at 10:05 a.m. by Chairman Lewis feint in the Parks and Recreation Commission Room. COMMISSION MEMBERS PRESENT: Chairman Lewis Wint, Vice Chairman Marjorie Walker, Secretary Betty Fortino, Don Deni, George Kuhn, Dr. Joseph Montante, Richard Vogt, Richard Wilcox. COMMISSION MEMBERS ABSENT: John Gnau AI.gn PRFgFNT- R. Eric Reickel, Jon J. Kipke, Charles Ross, Arnold Johnston, Sheila Cox. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the proposed-1979 Budget. FEES & CHARGES: (continued from meeting of 11/17/78) ---The second vehicle at a campsite will cost $1.00 per registration. ---Dump Station fees will be $3.00 for Oakland County residents and $4.00 for non-residents. ---Springfield Y.A.C. Multi -Purpose Room fee will be $150 from 6:00 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. ---The non-resident weekend or holiday greens fee rate was changed from $5.00 to $5.25 for 9 holes at Glen Oaks. PPPC(1NNF1 Mr. Reickel informed the Commission that Rod Whaley, Public Information Technician, had resigned. He explained this was a CETA position and suggested that a permanent position be created for a Public Information Technician. Mr. Reickel submitted job descriptions for public information officers from two other counties. Lengthy discussion followed on the duties and scope of activities for the position. Moved by Mrs..Walker, supported by Mr. Wilcox, to give staff authority to create a full time position of Public Information Technician with a salary range of $18,000 to $22,000; proposal to be referred to Personnel Practices Committee. (Special Commission Meeting, November 24, 1978) ROLL CALL VOTE: AYES: Walker, Wilcox, Wint, Deni, Fortino, Kuhn, Vogt (7) NAYS: (0) A sufficient majority having voted therefor, the motion carried. OPERATING BUDGET: There were no major changes in the Operating Budget and it was approved accordingly. CAPITAL EQUIPMENT BUDGET: Mr. Reickel explained that the reason for the Capital Equipment portion doubling from 1978 was for necessary equipment due to the acquisition of Glen Oaks, Red -Oaks Driving Range and the Waterford Tennis Complex. Moved by Mrs. Fortino, supported by Mr. Deni to adopt the 1979 Proposed Budget, as amended. The Budget will be presented to the Commission at its meeting of December 1 for formal adoption.
