November 4, 1981
The meeting was called to order at 9:12 a.m. by Chairman Lewis Wint in the Parks
and Recreation Commission Room.
COMMISSION MEMBERS PRESENT:
Chairman Lewis Wint, Vice Chairman Marjorie Walker, Secretary Don Deni, Fred
Houghten, George Kuhn, Pecky Lewis, Jr., Dr. Joseph Montante, Carol Stanley,
Richard Wilcox.
ALSO PRESENT:
Parks and Recreation R. Eric Reickel, Manager

APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
Moved by Dr. Montante, supported by Mr. Kuhn that the minutes
of the meeting of October 21, 1981, be approved as written.
Motion carried.
APPROVAL OF PAYMENTS:
Moved by Dr. Montante, supported by Mr. Lewis to approve
payment of Vouchers 10-98 through 10-209.
ROLL CALL VOTE:
AYES: Lewis, Kuhn, Montante, Stanley, Walker, Wint, Deni (7)
NAYS: (0)
A sufficient majority having voted therefor, the motion carried.
OPERATING STATEMENTS:
Moved by Mr. Kuhn, supported by Mrs. Walker to receive the
Operating Statements as of September, 1981.
Motion carried.
GROVELAND OAKS - ACQUISITION/EARL KEIM REALTY:
As previously directed by the Commission, staff investigated the feasibility of
acquiring 191+ acres on the northern border of Groveland Oaks. The property was
offered by Joyce Johnson of Earl Keim Realty in Ortonville for $515,000.

A sufficient majority having voted therefor, the motion carried.
MANAGER'S REPORT:
---Received certificate from the Michigan Historical Commission identifying the
Glen Oaks Clubhouse as a Michigan Historical.Site.
---Received letter of thanks from Murray Chodak, President of the Mounted Division,
for the Commission's donation to their equipment fund.
---Received letter from an individual interested in conducting an antique show at
the Springfield Oaks Youth Activities Center on the fourth Sunday of each month.
The individual offered to quadruple the rent that the present antique show operator
pays for the building.
It may be necessary to receive proposals on the building for review by the
Commissior and request a bond to guarantee the first year's rent.
The present operator's contract runs through December, 1981.
Recommended the present operator be allowed to continue to operate until the
Commission makes a determination..
The meeting adjourned at 9:40 a.m. to review the 1982 proposed budget.
