Mr. Reickel stated that in providing prepaid annual memberships, he felt we
were providing exclusive rights to a certain segment of the population and that
everybody should have the opportunity to play at any time they choose.
Mr. Thibodeau, Chief of Golf, said that in 1983, 157 prepaid family memberships
were sold, 86 of which were senior citizens. Mr. Thibodeau and others of staff
felt that the courses were sometimes monopolized by those holding the annual
memberships.
Reference was made to the one -quarter mill paid by the citizens for the Oakland
County Parks.
Mr. Wint noted that on a house valued at $100,000, $12 per year would go to
the park system.
The public hearing closed at 10:15 a.m.
