COMMISSION MEMBERS PRESENT: Chairman Lewis Wint, Secretary Jean Fox, Harold Cousins, George Kuhn, Pecky Lewis, Jr., Daniel Murphy, Richard Vogt. COMMISSION MEMBERS ABSENT: Vice Chairman Carol Stanley, Walter Moore, Richard Wilco . ALSO PRESENT: Parks and Recreation Dept. of Public Works Oakland Parks Foundation Anthony M. Franco, Inc. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Jon J. Kipke, Interim Manager C. L. Ross, Chief, Administrative Services Joseph Figa, Chi_:, Design & Development Janet Pung, Public Communications'Officer Michael Thibodeau, Chief of Golf Arnold Johnston, Chief of Parks Sheila Cox, Acccl;ntant Portia Fields-Anterson, Recreation Supervisor Milton Handorf, director Fran Greenebaum, Executive Director Dorothy Langan Moved by Mr. Lewis, supported by Mr. Cousins to approve the minutes of the meeting of October 3, 1984, and the -udget Review meeting of October 10, 1984, as written. Motion carried. APPROVAL OF PAYMENTS: Moved by Mr. Lewis, supported by Mrs. Fox to approve payment of Vouchers 10-1 through 10-149. ROLL CALL VOTE: AYES: Cousins, Fox, Kuhn, Lewis, Murphy, Wint (6) NAYS: (0) A sufficient majority having voted therefor, the mi:3 ion carried. 3 - 1 (Commission Meeting, October 17, 1984) CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT UPDATE: Joseph Figa reviewed the status of several including the Nature Center at Independence at Waterford Oaks, the Red Oaks Wave Pool, Clubhouse, and the primitive camping sites PUBLIC COMMUNICATIONS QUARTERLY REPORT: capital improvement projects in progress, Oaks, the facade renovation and addition roofing improvements for the Glen Oaks at Addison Oaks. Janet Pung reviewed the programs and activities reported by the Public Communica- tions Section for July through September, noting slide presentations, news releases, cable, television, and radio coverage, naturalist's programs, photo exhibits, and assistance from Anthony M. Franco, Inc. 1985 PROPOSED REVENUE AND OPERATING BUDGET: The Commission received the 1985 Proposed Revenue and Operating Budget as recommended by staff, contingent upon conducting a _public hearing scheduled for November 7, 9:30 a.m., and final approval by the Commission at its next regularly scheduled meeting of November 7, at 10:00 a.m. OAKLAND PARKS FOUNDATION: Oakland Parks Foundation Executive Director Fran Greenebaum reported on foundation activities, noting upcoming fund raisers and a retreat for the foundation board members. INTERIM MANAGER'S REPORT: ---The Board and Commission Workshop sponsored by the Michigan Recreation and Park Association is tonight, October 17, 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., at Glen Oaks Golf Course. Mr. Wint will give the introduction and Mr. Reickel will be present to give infor- mation on Proposal "B". ---Attended a meeting October 16 with Lew Wint of the Sub -committee on the Spring- field Oaks YAC. Discussed taking the holding tanks from the Trustee's Camp to use as supplemental septic tanks. Don Malinowski was asked to come back with more information.
