September 19, 1984
The meeting was called to order at 9:40 a.m. by Chairman Lewis Wint in the Parks
and Recreation Commission's conference room.

Moved by Mr. Lewis, supported by Mrs. Stanley to
approve the minutes of the meeting of September 5,
1984, as written.
Motion carried.
APPROVAL OF VOUCHERS:
Moved by Mrs. Fox, supported by Mr. Moore to approve
payment of vouchers 9-1 through 9-193•

NAYS: (0)
A sufficient majority having voted therefor, the motion carried.
ACTIVITIES REPORT:
Moved by Mr. Lewis, supported by Mr. Cousins to receive the
Activities Report as of August 31, 1984.
14 Total expenditures through August were $350,000 or 66.4% of our budget. At the
same time in 1983, we had expended 66.6% of the budget.
Motion carried.

CHAIRMAN'S REPORT:
---Will probably schedule budget hearings at the next meeting.
---The annual MRPA Scholarship Golf Outing was, held at Springfield Oaks. Over
$3,000 was raised to go toward a scholarship for a student majoring in Parks and
Recreation.
---The brick work is being done on the facade of the Waterford Oaks Activities
Center.
---The BMX Volunteers Association donated $1,800 to Friends of the Parks.
CARPETING - ADMINISTRATION BUILDING:
Mr. Figa explained that since the time staff obtained approval for the re -
carpeting of the downstairs area at the administrative building, an additional
office was added, making the total cost of carpet $1,241.30, plus $356 to remove
the old which had been glued down. There was $3,500 in the account to cover the
project. The carpet was purchased through Reimer who has a contract with the County.
Moved by Mrs. Stanley, supported by Mr. Kuhn to allow
staff to purchase the additional carpet needed for the
basement of the administration building.
Motion carried.
RED OAKS WAVE POOL PROJECT
---Will be getting soil borings for the project.
---Going to Zoning Board in Madison Heights next week.
=--Property acquisition is progressing.
INTERIM MANAGER'S REPORT:
---Some 100+ persons attended the Volunteer Picnic hosted by the Commission at the
Court Complex. Commissioners Kuhn and Stanley attended the event.
---Seventy-six schools participated in the 15th Annual Cross Country Meet at
Groveland Oaks. There were 2,126 runners.
---Camper Show at Groveland Oaks this weekend. $8,000 has been collected from
vendors who will display at the show. There will be a fireworks display on
Saturday night.
Moved by Mr. Lewis, supported by Mr. Cousins to
go into executive session.
Motion carried unanimously.
The regular meeting re -convened at 11:25 a.m.

Moved by Mrs. Stanley, supported by Mrs. Fox for the
Chairman to contact Kenneth Smithee, Director of the
Genesee county Parks and Recreation Commission and ask
him if he would be part of the interview team for the
Manager's position.

A sufficient majority having voted therefor, the motion carried.
Moved by Mrs. Stanley, supported by Mr. Lewis to
