Kuhn to approve the minutes of the meeting of February 3, 1988, as written. Motion carried. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Moved by Mr. G. Kuhn, supported by Mrs. Fox to approve the payment of Vouchers 2-1 through 2-127. ROLL CALL VOTE: AYES: G. Kuhn, R. Kuhn, Law, Olsen, Wint, Fox (6) NAYS: (0) A sufficient majority having voted therefor, the motion carried. 3 - 1 (Commission Meeting, February 17, 1988) ACTIVITIES REPORT: Manager Richard reviewed the Activities Report for January, 1988; the Commission accepted the report as filed. AWARD PRESENTATION: Jackie McFarlane, Chairman of the MRPA Awards Committee, reviewed the criteria for the Association's Innovative Park Resource Award, which was presented to the Commission at the 1988 Winter Conference in recognition of the Red Oaks Waterpark project. Chairman Wint commended Chief of Design Joe Figa, Chief of Golf Mike Thibodeau, and Park Supervisor Jim Mansfield for their commitment on this project and awarded the plaque to Jim Mansfield, which will be placed at the Red Oaks Waterpark. COMMISSIONERS' RETREAT: The St. Clair Inn was the site chosen for the Commissioners' Retreat for long-range planning, which will be held on Friday, April 22, to Saturday, April 23. Staff will prioritize the suggested subjects and choose eight for discussion; a facilitator will be working with the Commission to keep the program on track. BIDS: As per the information filed in the agenda, the following bid items were approved: Moved by Mr. G. Kuhn, supported by Mrs. Fox to award the purchase of a new H5-200 Aquamarine weed harvester, plus a new T-200 trailer/ conveyor, from the Witbold Company in the amount of $33,500 for the harvester and $12,250 for the trailer/conveyor; total purchase price will be $45,750. Moved by Mr. Olsen, supported by Mr. Law to approve the following bid items as reviewed and recommended by staff and Purchasing: 1 each 1,000 watt Homelite generator and 2 each 1,400 watt Homelite generators for Technical Support from the low bidder, Weingartz Supply, in the amount of $1,414.00. 69 pull carts plus 15 extra handles for the golf courses from the low bidder, Hornung's Pro Golf, in the amount of $3,391.25. 19 sets of rental golf clubs for the golf courses from the low bidder, Hornung's Pro Golf, in the amount of $1,054.55. 3 - 2 (Commission Meeting, February 17, 1988) Bobcat 2000 articulated wheel loader for Technical Support from Blavat in the amount of $20,852.60, plus accessories in the amount of $2,156.00, for a total purchase price of $23,008.60. John Deere 450G dozer for Technical Support from AIS Construction in the amount of $37,990.00. 246 dozen practice and tournament tennis balls for the Waterford Oaks Tennis Complex from the low bidder, Penn Athletic, in the amount of $2,041.68. 46.6 cubic foot commercial stainless steel refrigerator for the Waterford Oaks Activities Center from the low bidder, Miesel/Sysco, in the amount of $1,778.00. Steam cleaning carpet extractor for the Waterford Oaks Wave Pool from Oliver Supply in the amount of $2,995.00. Hydraulic sweepster attachment for a Ford tractor at Independence Oaks to the low bidder, Munn Ford, in the amount of $3,531.40. 8 each 2-seat Paddle Wheeler boats and 8 each 4-seat Paddle Wheeler boats for Independence Oaks and Groveland Oaks from DMM Industries, Inc., in the amount of $610.00 each for the 2-seat model and $810.00 each for the 4-seat model, for a total purchase price of $11,360.00. 200 each drain -type bumper blocks for Addison Oaks, Groveland Oaks and Independence Oaks to American Vault in the amount of $4,005.00. Hardware for the assembly of 40 park benches at Groveland Oaks from Engan-Tooley and Associates in the amount of $5,220.00. Excel Hustler 340 diesel mower at Addison Oaks and three Hustler mower decks for Groveland Oaks from the low bidder, W. F. Miller, in the amount of $21,595.00. Daihatsu Hi -Jet utility vehicle for Independence Oaks from Pfeiffer Lincoln Mercury in the amount of $8,660.50. 25 barbecue grills for the Red Oaks Waterpark from the low bidder meet- ing specifications, Clayton Company, in the amount of $1,700.00, plus five Texas -size grills for Addison Oaks and Independence Oaks from the low bidder meeting specifications, Belson Manufacturing, in the amount of $1,558.25; total purchase price will be $3,258.25. 25 replacement steel fire rings for Addison Oaks from Pilot Rock in the amount of $1,487.50. 82 each six-foot picnic tables for Groveland Oaks and Independence Oaks from the low bidder, Clayton Company, in the amount of $107.49 each, for a total purchase price of $8,814.18. GOLF CARS: Mr. Ross reviewed the history of the commission's golf car program; detailed information and staff's recommendations for purchase will be presented at the next Commission meeting. OAKLAND PARKS FOUNDATION: ---Executive Director Fran Greenebaum reported on the success of the Foundation's Patron Brunch held on Sunday, February 14, at Glen Oaks. ---Letters were sent to the top 50 corporations in Oakland County, inviting them to become corporate members of the Foundation. ---The Strategic Task Force Committee has analyzed the questionnaires returned to them and is reviewing the Foundation's goals for future planning.
