HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - 1991.03.06 - 38905PUBLIC HEARING OAKLAND COUNTY PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION GRANT APPLICATIONS AND RECREATION MASTER PLAN March 6, 1991 The Public Hearing for the grant application and the recreation master plan amend- ment was called to order at 9:20 a.m. by Chairman Wint in the commission room of the Parks and Recreation Commission's administration office. COMMISSION MEMBERS PRESENT: Chairman Lewis Wint, Vice Chairman Jean Fox, Secretary Pecky D. Lewis, Jr., Fred Korzon, Richard Kuhn, Jr., John Olsen, Alice Tomboulian COMMISSION MEMBERS ABSENT: George Kuhn, Thomas Law, Richard Vogt ALSO PRESENT: Parks and Recreation Central Services Purchasing Grant Applications: Ralph Richard, Manager Jon Kipke, Assistant Manager Joseph Figa, Chief of Design & Development Janet Pung, Public Communications Officer Daniel Stencil, Chief of Parks Mike Thibodeau, Chief of Golf Frank Trionfi, Chief of Admin. Services Sheila Cox, Accountant Susan Wells, Recreation Supervisor Jim Dunleavy, Recreation Specialist Glen Dick, Director Lloyd Hampton, Manager Chief of Design Joe Figa noted that the Department of Natural Resources notified staff that the deadline to submit applications to request matching Land and Water Conservation, Natural Resources Trust, and Recreation Bond funds is April 1. This is the first required review. A public hearing is also a requirement of the DNR to qualify for funds. Notice of the hearing was advertised in several area newspapers. The projects staff selected are as follows: Rose Township Property Acquisition Addison Oaks - Sanitary System Improvements Lyon Rookery Staff reviewed the projects; no comments were made by the public on the grant applications. 3a-1 (Public Hearing, March 6, 1991) Recreation Master Plan Amendment: Chief of Design Joe Figa noted that, in order for the Commission to submit grant applications, we must have a current Recreation Master Plan and the proposed proj- ects must be included in the master plan. The proposed Sanitary System Improvement project for Addison Oaks was not in- cluded in our Recreation Master Plan; therefore the master plan must be amended to include the project in order for the Commission to submit the grant appli- cation. Mr. Figa reviewed the sections being amended and noted that the entire Recreation Master Plan must be resubmitted for approval next year. Commissioner Olsen requested that the subject of the Recreation Master Plan and how to proceed with next year's resubmission be placed on the Commission/staff retreat agenda.
