Chairman McGillivray called the meeting of the Oakland County Parks and Recreation Commission to
order at 2:02 p.m. at Glen Oaks, 30500 13 Mile Road, Farmington Hills, MI 48334.

Introduction of Aaron Thomas, Deputy Corporation Counsel
Jody Hall introduced Aaron Thomas as the new Deputy Corporation Counsel. Mr. Thomas
acknowledged the important work that this Commission does and expressed that Corporation Counsel
is dedicated to supporting them, as needed.
Recreation Programs & Services Summer Preview
Brandy Boyd provided an overview of Recreation Programs & Services upcoming summer programs
and services.

Long moved to Receive and File the Communications and Marketing Quarterly Report.

LaFontaine moved to recommend approval of the Recreation Needs Assessment (County-Wide)
Survey, as presented. Seconded by Quarles.

10. Request to Sell Alcohol-DRAW-Independence Oaks – October 20, 2022
Bagley moved to recommend approval of the Request to Sell Alcohol-DRAW-Independence
Oaks – October 20, 2022, as presented. Seconded by Stokes.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS
11. Parks Commission Visioning Workshop
Donna Folland continued the discussion for development of the Oakland County Parks and Recreation
Commission’s strategic vision and goals for the 5-Year Parks and Recreation Master Plan that began
at the April 6, 2022 Parks and Recreation Commission meeting.

12. Director’s Report
Director Ward provided an overview of his report.
13. Executive Committee Update
Chairman McGillivray provided an update from the Executive Committee meeting that was held on May
23, 2022.
14. Property Acquisition (CLOSED SESSION)
Stokes moved that the Oakland County Parks and Recreation Commission go into Closed

Session for the purposes of discussing the purchase of real property. Supported by Bagley.
Motion carried on a roll call vote.
The Commission went into Closed Session at 3:47 p.m.
The Commission reconvened in Open Session at 4:02 p.m.
ANNOUNCEMENTS/ADJOURNMENT
At 4:03 p.m., there being no further business to come before the Commission, the meeting was
adjourned to July 6, 2022 or to the Call of the Chair.
