We have not only been expanding facilities, but these facilities have encouraged more program activity. In order to be more effective, the purchase of a duplicator would add greatly to the effectiveness of the Commission activities. Staff has invited several firms to give demonstrations of their equipment. The two prices that come closest to our needs are: A. B. Dick $ 2,902.50 Gestetner 3,378.00 The staff's request is to acquire the A. B. Dick for $2,902.50. This item is budgeted in the 1973 Capital Improvement Budget as part of the administrative office improvement. Tms m 4F SEWER DISPOSAL SYSTEM ADDISON-OAKS The Department of Facilities and Operations will be prepared to present their concept for the needs of the engineering of a sewer at Addison -Oaks at the May 25 meeting. This presentation concurs with the Commission's request to have the Department of Facilities and Operations final design. ITEM #6b JANITORIAL SERVICES ADMINISTRATIVE The expansion of the additional offices has resulted in a larger cleaning task for our custodial service. We have asked our custodian to evaluate the additional time it is taking him to clean these new facilities. This evaluation has resulted in the additional cost of $4.00 per day or $80.00 per month which makes his fee $240.00 per month. It is recommended that this request be authorized in the May payment due to preparing the office for use such as cleaning the walls and windows. The additional cost for the remainder of the year is $640.00 which could be transferred from the contingency fund. 1973 CAPITAL PROGRAM In order to commence with the 1973 Capital Program, permission is requested to initiate the following projects: Groveland-Oaks Three (3) pre-engineered toilet buildings (Receive bids) $ 6,000.00 Park Office - pre-engineered (Receive bids) 10,000.00 Entrance Signs - authorize to proceed force account 4,000.00 Independence -Oaks Negotiation with the firm of Ellis, Arndt & Truesdell, Inc. for engineering work on the first stage of development. Eric Reickel Director May 15, 1973 To the Members of the PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION County of Oakland, Michigan Ladies and Gentlemen: It has been brought to my attention that the Oakland County Board of Commission, at its May 3, 1973 meeting, passed a resolution to amend Senate Bill No. 229 on County Reorganization Legislation. As you will note by the enclosed resolution from the minutes, they have recommended to delete Parks and Recreation Commissions from the excepted amendment to the bill. • 338-6196 Frances Clark Chairperson Richard R. Wilcox Vice•Chairman Henry A. Schiffer Secretary • Emil Jawors George Kuhn William L. Mainland Roger H. Marz Ted McCullough, Jr. William M. Richards E. Frank Richardson As you will recall, those who were on the Commission at the time the bill was introduced, met with Senator Purcell and it was accepted that Parks and Recreation Commissions would be excluded from the bill. This request was acknowledged and the exception was granted. It seems that we must justify the reason for the present structure of the Commission again. I feel that we have accomplished a great deal functioning as a policy making board and have been able to act on opportunities without having to consider any outside influence or political pressures. Please consider this memo as information and also the enclosed documents. We should be prepared to discuss this at a special session after the next meeting. Sincerely, Frances P. Clark, Chairperson FPC:slg Enclosures. Addison -Oaks • Groveland - Oaks • Independence -Oaks. • Springfield -Oaks • Waterford -Oaks • White Lake - Oaks
