RESOLUTION - INDEPENDENCE -OAKS
ROAD ABANDONMENT
A copy of a resolution requested by the Oakland County
Road Commission is enclosed as a sample and will need
to be acted upon for the purposes of final steps in
getting the roads abandoned at Independence.
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, the Oakland County Road Commission has by resolution
abandoned and discontinued Hoyt Road from Perry Lake Road easterly
to Sashabaw Road and a portion of Perry Lake Road from the
intersection of Shappie Road southerly to the east -west 1/4 Section
Line of Section 9, Independence Township and
WHEREAS, their resolution contains that a 120 foot x 120 foot
cul-de-sac (turnaround) would be dedicated and constructed by the
Oakland County Parks and Recreation Commission and located north
of the east -west 1/4 line, Section 9, fully within the proposed
park area and prepared for use by the public. Such cul-de-sac
should be constructed in a manner acceptable to the Oakland County
Road Commission, and in addition the Oakland County Parks and
Recreation Commission would reserve, over the northerly portion
of the park property sufficient land to provide a right-of-way for
the extension of Shappie Road towards Sashabaw Road and if and
in the event the Oakland County Road Commission determines in the
future that it is necessary to construct Shappie Road to Sashabaw
Road the Oakland County Parks and Recreation Commission will
dedicate the right-of-way on its property and participate in the
cost of such construction. In addition this Commission will
participate in the cost of gravel to improve the low spots on
Shappie Road west of Perry Lake Road and Oak Hill Road east of
Perry Lake Road.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Oakland County Parks
and Recreation Commission will abide by and cooperate with all
conditions set forth in the Oakland County Road Commission's

Dear Yr. Reickel:
I'm writing you in regard to The Pontiac -Oakland Symphony
Orchestra's Cabaret Concert which is scheduled for Friday evening,
May 31st at the 7a.terford Caks Activities Center.
This concert is annually presented by our Bloomfield i-?omen's
Association and is one of the major fund-raising events in support
of the Pontiac -Oakland Symphony Orchestra.
The income from this year's event is critical to the continued
operation of the orchestra. In the past two years the cost of
renting your facilities has risen drastically. Additionally,
certain services must be contracted for through your staff, thus,
elimating any chance for cutting our costs in presenting the concert.
The Pontiac -Oakland Symphony Orchestra is closin; its 1974 season
in the weakest financial condition in its history. Whether the
orchestra will present a season of concerts next year depends to a
large extent on the income from this Cabaret Concert.
I am appealing to you for a reduction of the rental fees, etc.,
for our Pay 31st concert as part of the Oakland County Government
contribution to the cultural life of the area. Would you please
give this matter your most careful consideration.
We will be awaiting your reply.
