We have attempted to get various quotes to build the trap and have only been able to come up with one that is from Lotan's Excavating in the amount of $2350.00. We reviewed this quote with the Department of Facilities and Operations and they feel it is reasonable. It is recommended that the Commission authorize this work to be done and that when the final transaction of the acquisition of the property is completed that the $5000.00 that is to be turned back to the Commission from the landowner will be used to pay back the Commission for this expenditure. Lotan's Excavating 9115 Sashab aw Clarkston, Michigaa March 19, i974 Oakland County Parks and Recreation 2800 Watkins Lake Rd. Waterford, Mich. Project: Pike rearing and trap; Crooked Lake. Estimate includes all necessary labor, tools, machinery and material to constuct as stipulated by the blue print given, with the exception of the top, which will be completely covered. The fdrst 18" will be solid, the rest will be Z" grate. The grade along side will be backfilled to the top of tank, with about 311fall in 5e. Price.........$235U.00 Thank -you,, Larry Letan Item #7 INDEPENDENCE -OAKS ABANDONING HUNTING AND FIREARMS Ed Glennie, Independence Township Clerk, requested that the Oakland County Parks and Recreation Commission submit a letter indicating their approval that the Independence -Oaks County Park be included in the list of proposed properties in Independence Township that are to be closed to all hunting and firearms. A notice of a public hearing will be issued 30 days in advance. All areas that are to be closed will be in- corporated into state law and be enforced by the Department of Natural Resources and the Michigan State Police. It is the policy of the Commission that there is no discharging of firearms allowed in county parks and since we are in the process of developing this park, it is well to start enforcing this policy. Item #8 GROVELAND-OAKS MOWING EQUIPMENT In reevaluating the Capital Equipment needs for Groveland- Oaks Park, it has become apparent that the mowing equipment is inadequate to maintain the park in a desirable condition. We have recently found out that the 8' Mott Mower which is the backbone of the mowing operation is beyond repair. It is essential that we replace this mower to increase the appearance and efficiency of mowing. It is further recommended that we purchase two Mott Hybrid Gang Units which would attach to the replacement mower. In doing this, it would increase the width of cut by 72' and decrease the amount of time spent on maintaining the park. Estimated purchase price for the replacement mower and the two gang units is $3700.00. If approved, funds would be transferred from the Contingency Fund to the Capital Equipment Fund for this purchase.
