SPECIAL FERTILIZER FOR GOLF GREENS
1. Our Chief of Golf Course Operations has requested two special
fertilizer blends for the golf course greens, One is a special
blend only manufactured by Scotts, Their quote this year for 120
bags is $3627,00, This price represents a 22% increase over last
year. Staff recommends purchase of this special blend to Scotts
Pro Turf.
2. The other special blend fertilizer was sent out for bids, The
bids received are as follows;
W. F. Miller No bid
Turf Grass $1246.14
Turf Supply No bid
Spartan Distributors $1335.00
Century Toro ^ No bid
Staff recommends we buy this second special blend from the low
bidder, Turf Grass in the amount of $1246,14,

CONCRETE RINGS FOR CAMP FIRES
ADDISON AND GROVELAND
The following two bids were received by Purchasing for 52
concrete rings used for camp fires at Addison and Groveland,
Concrete Specialities $38.50 each = $2,002.00
Net loth - 2-3 weeks delivery
Price Brothers $35,00 each = $1,820.00
5% - 30 days - 2 weeks delivery
Staff concurs with Purchasing''s recommendation to award to
Price Brothers in the amount of $1820.00 less 5% or $1729.00 net,
Budget estimate is $1725.00.

1979 PAVING PROJECT
The following Paving Projects were approved in the 1978 and
1979 Capital Improvement Budget:
--Springfield Oaks
Parking lot, cart paths, and YAC exhibit drive
--Groveland Oaks
Main entrance drive including staging and dumping
areas.
--Waterford Oaks
Parking lot
Total amount budgeted is $127,000.
Bids were received on these projects in 1978, At that time only
one bid was received in the amount of $132,349.48 from Ann Arbor
Construction. This bid was rejected due to the lack of bids and over
budget amount.
The projects were again rebid on March 22, 1979. The bids are as
follows:
A & A Asphalt $154,400,25
National Asphalt 139,322,35
Ann Arbor Construction Co. 134,766,89
Detroit Concrete Products 126,827,20
Parks and Recreation and F & 0 staff recommends the award of the
contract to the low bidder, Detroit Concrete Products in the amount of
$126,827.20. If awarded, work will commence in early spring,

GRASS SEED REQUIREMENTS FOR
GOLF COURSES AND PARKS
We have received the following bids for grass seed requirements for
the golf courses and parks.

Turf Supply $3885,0.0.
FDS Fertilizer $4427.00
Cowbell Seeds $3675.00
Staff concurs with Purchasing to award the bid to Cowbell Seeds in the
amount of $3675.00

requests pertaining to land acquisition.

HURON-CLINTON METROPOLITAN AUTHORITY
Mr. David Laidlaw, Director of the Huron -Clinton Metropolitan Authority,
contacted me this morning and asked if we would be interested in listening
to a presentation by them pertaining to the development of their Indian
Springs Metropark which is located in Springfield Township, as per the
news article below.
I asked Mr. Laidlaw, a while back, to come before the Commission to explain
the development that is going on there so we could be aware of it in respect
to what we are doing in Oakland County. Mr. Laidlaw has agreed he would
come to this meeting and review it with you.
Mature Study facility planned
.at Indian Springs Metr®park
The initial development of nature Charles R. Shafer, who represents
study facilities at Indian Springs Oakland County on the seven-
Metropark is expected to begin later member Board of Commissioners of
this year. the Huron -Clinton Metropolitan
The land for the park, about 1,200 Authority, says $312,000 is included in
