This equipment will be used in the Recreation Section for timing of footraces, cross country ski races and the BMX program. For past events, equipment was rented at an approximate cost of $300 per event. Staff concurs with Mr. Hylla's recommendation to purchase from the second low bidder, Bauman Running Center, for $2808.40 for a Chronomix which will operate on both AC and DC power. There is $10,000 budgeted for this equipment in the Operating Equipment Budget. Originally an elaborate timing board was going to be purchased to display the times to the spectators. However, due to the permanent breakdown of the maintenance tractor, it has become necessary to re- allocate $6,000 of this item to the purchase of a replacement tractor.
