The property in question is the Simpson Lake property, which is northwest of the park. Staff's research has found that there are three years' back taxes owed on the property. Purchase price is approximately $431,000; the grant application will request an 80/20 grant from the Fund for the purchase of this property. Attached is a map showing the potential uses of the property, detail- ing hiking and possible expansion of camping. This property would provide more space for the campers who utilize the park. On Memorial Day weekend, Groveland had more than 3,000 people on the 200 acre site; the additional acreage could create a higher quality facility. A resolution is required from the Commission authorizing staff to proceed with the application. Staff has contacted Mr. Titsworth, Groveland Township Supervisor, who has no objections to this grant application. I am recommending the Commission authorize to proceed with this application. 9-1 11 Z _ 6 Nd'lj 3).VyJ l...' g of 5,WgL naNNo: ITEM #10 MANAGER'S REPORT ---Security measure were taken this past week at Orion Oaks due to calls from local residents. We reditched areas that have been filled in over the years, priced out fencing to see if the residents want to purchase it, and requested Safety to patrol Orion Oaks at different times. ---The master plan has been submitted to the State. The four grant applications are in the process of being reviewed by the Department of Natural Resources now. A special luncheon meeting for commissioners will be held on July 10 to review the opposing ideas on the future of the park system. ---The Independence Oaks Nature Center dedication is scheduled for Wednesday, June 26, at 11:15 a.m., with a buffet luncheon being served at 12 Noon. If you have anyone you would like invited, please contact Jan Pung to send out invitations. ---Manager and Assistant Manager will be attending a Special Parks District Forum June 12 - 15 at the Holiday Inn in Romulus.
