NO BID Leon Mancour Construction $126,323 McHugh Construction 121,775 O'Brien Waterford 121,000 Parkwood Construction 116,000 Patrick Associates 162,000 Team Management Group 107,900* *Low bid The construction consists of a 44' x 19' kitchen/storage addition to the existing Springfield Oaks Clubhouse including electrical, me- chanical, and architectural trades. The architects (The Miller Group) and staff have reviewed the pro- posal and recommend awarding the contract to the low bidder, Team Manage- ment Group, in the amount of $107,900, plus a $6,100 contingency, for a total approved budget of $114,000. The approved 1986 Capital Improvement Budget designated $150,000 for this project. 7 - 1 ITEM #8 IRRIGATION IMPROVEMENTS GLEN OAKS & WHITE LAKE OAKS We have received from Purchasing the following bid for Irrigation Improvements at Glen Oaks and White Lake Oaks: Countryside Construction $ 107,650.00 Utica, Michigan The scope of this project is to automate the greens and tees at Glen Oaks, repipe the front 9 fairways and automate the greens and tees at White Lake Oaks. The Glen Oaks portion of this project was bid out twice in 1985. The first time we bid in 1985 one bid was received; the second time, we re- ceived only two bids. All three bids were close to $60,000, and staff felt this price was too far over our budget estimate. Purchasing contacted all eight of the non -responding bidders, and the concensus was their work schedules did not permit them to take on any additional work at this time. Staff reviewed this bid with the design consultant (C. J. Colein) who feels Countryside Construction is competent to perform this project and the bid price of $107,650.00 is competitive. Staff will schedule construction in the fall, which will be less disruptive to the golf operations than in the spring. Staff concurs with Purchasing to award the irrigation improvement bid to the only bidder, Countryside Construction, for $107,650.00. There is $43,000 at Glen Oaks and $61,000 at White Lake Oaks budgeted in the Capital Improvement Budget for these projects. The balance of $3,650 will come from the 1986 Capital Improvement Budget contingency. 8 - 1 ITEM #9 ADMINISTRATION PRODUCTION FOLDER The following bids were received for a production folder machine for the Administration Office: Multigraphics $1,435.00 Troy Pitney Bowes 1,989.00 Southfield Friden Alcatel NO BID Farmington Hills This equipment is being requested to help reduce the amount of staff time being used on our increasing number of mailings, such as news releases and flyers for tournaments, class announcements, special events, etc. Staff has seen the folders from both bidders and recommends awarding the bid to the low bidder, Multigraphics, in the amount of $1,435.00. There is $800.00 budgeted in the Operating Equipment Budget for this purchase; the additional $635.00 will come from the operating equip- ment contingency. 9 - 1 owl FO bef pro6uctjon Fol ef Table- IOP 4k- act Multi Folder easiW and comp slits, and scores. Over 6,000 people are expected to attend the three- day event. Hope you have a chance to be there. ---The new shelter at Addison Oaks was christened with a group of over 2,000 people from the Pontiac area holding their annual picnic. The group was very impressed with the shelter and staff cooperation. Picnic rentals for the parks system are at an all-time high. ---Waterford Oaks Wave Pool had its biggest day ever last weekend, with revenues of $7,500. Our previous record was $6,600, set in July of 1983. ---Attached is an article on the Red Oaks Waterpark that appeared in the July 7 issue of The Daily Tribune. Construction on the pool is approximately 70 percent complete at the present time. I foresee us having no major problems to finish by fall. ---The NRPA Annual Congress is scheduled for Anaheim, California. Dates are October 17 - 21. You will receive more information from Karen. Please let us know as soon as possible if you plan to attend. ---Staff has met with residents near Red Oaks in response to their con- cerns on stray golf balls. We are taking immediate action by building a new tee on #2; we feel this will eliminate 50 percent of the problem. We are also looking at the cost of new fencing. ---Enclosed in your packet is a sample of the new litter bags we are distributing in the parks. liana.+. Jul. 7, ,s», kurul Wk.
