Prices for the replacement of the four courts have been received and are as follows: Courts Marketing, Inc. $118,600.00 Clawson, Michigan Casco Enterprises 137,000.00 White Plains, New York Subsequent to this presentation, a number of the Commissioners were able to visit the existing courts for an inspection and explanation of the present court conditions. Attached you will find participation information covering 1983 through the spring of 1988. As a general statement, there has been a consistent nucleus of 35 to 40 persons. Also attached is detailed information on the replacement courts. Over the years staff has conducted various media campaigns and programs to increase and maintain particpation. This has consisted of television coverage, radio station sponsorship, local, regional and national tournaments sponsored by Michelob, video filming for cable television, open houses, "paddle party", media days, and a variety of age groupings and leagues. With all this effort behind the facility, it still failed to expand into more than 30 to 40 players involved. 10-1 PLATFORM TENNIS Day Teams Participants 1988 Monday 5 10 Tuesday 8 16 Wednesday 8 16 Saturday 8 - 16 Sunday 8 - 16 Tournament 6 12 1987 Monday 2 5 Wednesday 8 16 Saturday 8 - 16 Sunday 8 - 16 Tournament 10 20 1986 Monday 8 16 Wednesday 8 16 Saturday 8 - 16 Sunday 8 - 16 Tournament 8 16 Tournament 16 32 1985 Monday 7 14 Tuesday 2 5 Wednesday 8 16 Thursday 6 12 Saturday 8 - 16 Sunday, Mixed 6 12 1984 Monday 8 16 Wednesday 8 16 Sunday, Mixed 4 8 Tournament 16 32 Tournament 8 16 1983 Monday 8 16 Wednesday 8 16 Friday, Mixed 4 8 Tournament 5 10 Tournament 15 30 10-2 PLATFORM TENNIS FINANCIAL Revenue Revenue Leagues Tournaments Expenses 1987 $ 1,976 $ 340 500 1986 1,041 272 500 1985 1,349 845 500 1984 2,232 650 4,400 1983 2,607 500 4,400 10-3 ND 'OVN o'i DAK ARtMENT"` M eloPme.t De en lianaenBOSSChe Design Stev S From: Waterfora Oak JaC]on r Tenni Jo: TOm of platform` -- Demolition pateSe t'g' „•,' 5,biect: aemolition Come any ana they are going ve callea the on Monday' h Yo"' I ha th a cuote not get Wit Ck to Yo knew the do if th P ,ase ley} vie, 1p_4 COURTS MARKETING, INC. 1250 Crooks Road Clawson, Michigan 48017 013) 435-6500 January 14, 1988 Mr. Tom Jackson Oakland County Parks and Recreation 2800 Watkins Lake Road Pontiac, Michigan 48058 We have surveyed your existing Platform Tennis Courts for the installation of an Aluminum Heated Deck System and find that. the present superstructure, without extreme modification, cannot be reused and the substructure trusses have to be replaced with Select Structural Douglass Fir treated beams and joist.
