GLEN OAKS
IRRIGATION POND CLEAN -OUT
The last major storm we had at Glen Oaks washed approximately
400 yards of sand and silt into our irrigation holding pond.
This sand and silt has started to cover and clog up our inlet
for our irrigation pumps. We have had to open up a passage to the
inlet twice. If we get a major rain this inlet for our irrigation
could get completely covered.
When the problem first occurred, Purves Excavating was called
to look at the problem and give us a price to clean it out. Joe Hylla,
Purchasing, also gave staff a list of contractors to call. Listed
below are the vendors contacted and their response:
Newman Brothers
Gordon Sell -Way Inc.
Lloyd Betts
Pacer Contracting
Purves Excavating
Quoted $4,500.00
No crane
No crane -referred us to Newman's
Looked at project and said they
did not have equipment to do job,
but knew someone that did -- they
never returned call.
Never came out to look at project
This project would require the contractor to remove approximately
400 yards of materials from the holding pond, digging area a minimum
of six feet deep, and transporting material 1,200 feet to a storage
area.
Equipment required would be a crane, dump truck, dozer and mats.
With time being a factor in order to avoid causing damage to the pumps
or limiting our irrigation, staff is recommending awarding the project
to Newman Brothers, at a cost of $4,500.
Funds for this project will come from the Capital Improvement
Budget.
