INTRODUCTION AND BACKGROUND
Summary of Proposed Project
The Pontiac United Education Coalition is the 501c3 arm of the Pontiac Regional Chamber. The
PUEC is a community of citizens, business owners and business representatives working together
to expand the talent pipeline in our region. As a Sponsor, you support growth, progress, and
investment in the future of the entire region. I am sending you this letter to request your financial
support for the PUEC's 2023 "HIRE Pontiac!" Pre-Engineering, Internship Program. This Program
does two important things: it supports young, aspiring STEM professionals, and it also drives
economic development in our region for and through local businesses. In 2022, this program
provided our youth with exposure to communities outside of Pontiac, such as Wixom, Ann Arbor,
and Auburn Hills, and we feel it was an important accomplishment that every business our interns
visited was a leader within their respective industry.
We are hosting our second HIRE Pontiac! cohort for high school students from the City of Pontiac
this Summer. We are seeking sponsors to support the success of this internship program. As you
may or may not be aware, Oakland County is one of the largest engineering centers in the country,
with over 75,000 engineers living, working, and playing here. This year’s internship is dedicated to
the fields of robotics and automation. We feel this focus best aligns with our society's movement
toward SMART Cities. As our region continues its drive toward a more prosperous future, we
believe it is critical to expand the STEM talent pipeline. We are thankful for the partnerships we
developed with General Motors, Magna, Fanuc Robotics, Schupan Recycling, Resource Recycling
Systems and AUCH Construction for the 2022 HIRE Pontiac! program, and for their invaluable
assistance in helping us achieve this goal.
Your investment in the Pontiac Regional Chamber of Commerce, the Pontiac United Education
Coalition, and most importantly the HIRE Pontiac! program, unifies your voice with General Motors,
Oakland University, Auch Construction, Flagstar Bank, MSUFCU, Resource Recycling Systems,
United Wholesale Mortgage, Essential Recycling, Reimagine, McLaren Hospital and Dobrusin Law.
Such an investment will clearly indicate your company’s alignment with the common goals of
enhancing our community's well-being, promoting our economic health, and improving our quality of
life. This investment forwards The PRC and PUEC's mission of increasing the number of
engineering students in the talent pipeline every year. Commissioner Powell can you support our
economic development efforts for our students, families, and businesses. And we ask that this be a
part of your annual community project budget. Your contribution of $7,500.00 will enable students to
experience all the County has to offer. By doing so, you can be proud of playing a pivotal role in
helping to increase access to higher paying jobs for the youth of Pontiac. Progress is everyone's
business and undoubtedly, in this realm, we are better...together!
