ITEM CATEGORY SPONSORED BY Grant Penny Luebs INTRODUCTION AND BACKGROUND The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office has been awarded funding in the amount of $12,500 from the Stanton Foundation Fallen K9 Grant Program to help defray the department's K9 replacement expenses. The Stanton Foundation reimburses police departments for the cost of replacing a K9 who died in the line of duty. K9 Riggs passed away on August 13, 2021 while on duty. POLICY ANALYSIS The Chair of the Board of Commissioners is authorized to approve any grant extensions or changes within fifteen percent (15%) of the original award, which is consistent with the original agreement as approved. Acceptance of this grant does not obligate the County to any future commitment and continuation of this program is contingent upon continued future levels of grant funding.
