Motion to approve the one-time use of $5,000 appropriated from the Fiscal Year 2024 Board of
Commissioners General Fund Sponsorship line-item budget for the purpose of sponsoring the
Southfield Chamber of Commerce's "An Excellent Holiday Event"; further, approve and authorize
the Board Chair to execute any required agreements on behalf of Oakland County.

INTRODUCTION AND BACKGROUND
Summary of Proposed Project
Southfield prides itself on embracing its small businesses with a yearly celebration showcasing
businesses all over metro Detroit, but the incoming holiday season brought together the perfect
celebration.“We always hold a celebration with small businesses, but we wanted to combine the
holiday celebration with our community,” Southfield Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director
Jasmine Patton said.With over 220 registered vendors, the community was able to view local,
handmade items such as jewelry, crafts, clothing and more.

$5,000

Commitments from DTE and Verizon.
What is the purpose of this project?
A diverse business community coming together to build a stronger community and feature local
small shops.
Who will benefit from the project and how?
Local entrepreneurs, community leaders, and business professionals.
What is the expected duration of the project?
One day, three hour event.
Will the project/cost fall within one or multiple budget cycles?
One budget cycle.
Will there be a need to organize support from any Oakland County Departments or outside
agencies? If so, please explain.
