Motion to approve the one-time use of $3,000 appropriated from the Fiscal Year 2024 Board of
Commissioners General Fund Special Projects line-item budget for the purpose of sponsoring
Southfield Public Schools' A&T Warriors Championship Celebration; further, approve and authorize
the Board Chair to execute any required agreements on behalf of Oakland County.

INTRODUCTION AND BACKGROUND
Summary of Proposed Project
Southfield Public Schools is hosting a public celebration in honor of the football team's historic state
championship victory. This celebration includes a championship caravan of the football team from
the University High School Academy campus to the the Southfield A&T campus followed by a rally
in the A&T fieldhouse.
What is the estimated cost of this project?
$3,000
Are there any possible funding partners or matching funds available? If so, please explain.
No.
What is the purpose of this project?
The purpose of this project is to celebrate and honor our varsity football on their historic state
championship victory. The funds will cover the cost of the local police department's presence
throughout the event.
Who will benefit from the project and how?
The student athletes will benefit from this event celebrating their historic victory. The district as well
as the community will also benefit from the event as it will be a unifying moment and everyone
rallies around our championship team.
What is the expected duration of the project?
Four hours. The event will begin at 12 noon with a police escorted caravan of athletes through the
city. The caravan will arrive at the high school at 12:45pm. There will be a speaking
program following the caravan at 1pm including local and county elected officials.
Will the project/cost fall within one or multiple budget cycles?
One budget cycle.
Will there be a need to organize support from any Oakland County Departments or outside
agencies? If so, please explain.
No.
Does this project fall within the scope of the Board of Commissioners’ authority?
Yes.
