ITEM CATEGORY SPONSORED BY Collective Bargaining Agreement Brendan Johnson INTRODUCTION AND BACKGROUND The County of Oakland and the United Auto Workers, Local 889 (UAW) have negotiated a supplemental Agreement for supervisory employees in the Board of Commissioners Department. An eight (8) month Supplemental Agreement has been reached for the period of February 7, 2024, through September 30, 2024. POLICY ANALYSIS This is a request to approve a Supplemental Agreement to the Collective Bargaining Agreement between Oakland County and the United Auto Workers (UAW), Local 889. The agreement is for the period beginning February 7, 2024, to September 30, 2024. This Supplemental Agreement would cover a total of 3 FTE supervisory employees in the following classifications within the department of the Board of Commissioners: BOC Marketing & Communications Officer, BOC Operations Supervisor and Policy & Fiscal Analysis Supervisor. The agreement has been ratified, and conditions under the terms of this agreement include an option for working a 4/10 (four 10-hour days) alternative work schedule. February 7, 2024 through September 30, 2024 This Supplemental Agreement is supplemental to and becomes a part of the UAW Local 889 Master Agreement, hereinafter referred to as the “Master Agreement” for the period commencing the 7th day of February for the classifications recognized below. Approval for an employee to work a 4/10 schedule shall not be unreasonably withheld by the Department Head. Holiday Pay and Overtime with Alternative Work Schedules: • All employees working a 4/10 schedule, where the holiday falls on a day in which they are normally scheduled to work, shall receive ten (10) hours holiday pay. • All overtime eligible employees working a 4/10 schedule, shall be entitled to a minimum of three (3) hours overtime pay if called into the office and required to work on their regularly scheduled non-working day, except where the County provides a notice of 3 business days to permit the employee an opportunity to adjust their schedule.
