INTRODUCTION AND BACKGROUND
The Circuit Court was awarded a grant from the State Court Administrative Office (SCAO), Virtual
Backlog Response Docket Grant Program, for the grant period of April 1, 2023 through March 31,
2024. The grantor has offered the Court an extension of the grant until December 31, 2025. The
total program funding for the Virtual Backlog Response Docket Grant of $700,650 will be increased
to $1,159,028.91. The court intends to continue using these funds to reduce the backlog of pending
criminal cases due to COVID-19 and the inability to hold criminal jury trials for almost two years. The
grant provides funding for attorney fees, mediator payments, visiting judges, zoom pods for
attorneys and mediators, and some Information Technology expenditures. The grant will continue to
fund two (2) Special Revenue (SR) FTE Court Clerk positions, and one (1) Special Revenue (SR)
FTE Judicial Staff Attorney position. The FY2023 budget is being rolled forward and split across
FY2024-FY2026 for budget development purposes.
