POLICY ANALYSIS
Alignment with Purpose and Scope: The project aligns with the aim of providing community
support for educational and entertainment activities. However, the proposal lacks specific details
regarding how the festival will achieve these objectives beyond the general description.
Budget Consideration: The proposed budget of $5,000 appears reasonable for an event of this
nature. However, without a breakdown of expenses, it's challenging to assess the appropriateness
of the budget allocation.
Funding Partners and Sustainability: The absence of identified funding partners or matching
funds raises concerns about the sustainability of the project. Collaborating with additional funding
partners could enhance the financial viability and long-term sustainability of the festival.
Duration and Timeline: The proposed duration of June 1-2, 2024, is clearly outlined.
Compliance and Oversight: The proposal confirms that the project falls within the scope of the
Board of Commissioners' authority.
Community Impact and Reporting: While the proposal mentions benefiting the local community,
there's a lack of clarity regarding the expected impact and how it will be measured. Additionally,
there's no mention of plans for reporting outcomes as required by the Oakland County Board of
Commissioners.
Collaboration with Departments and Agencies: The proposal indicates involvement with Oakland
County Parks and Recreation and potential utilization of RAAP grants.
In conclusion, while the proposed project aligns with the aim of providing community
support for educational and entertainment activities, there are areas requiring further
development and clarification to ensure its success and compliance with the Oakland
County Board of Commissioners' policies and regulations. Given the Board of
Commissioners' sponsorship of the same event in 2023 and 2022, each time for $5,000, it
would be prudent to reference these past sponsorships in the proposal. Highlighting this
history of support can demonstrate the event's track record and the Board's ongoing
commitment to community engagement.
BUDGET AMENDMENT REQUIRED: No
