Motion to approve the one-time allotment of $5,000 from the Fiscal Year 2024 Board of
Commissioners General Fund Sponsorship line-item budget for the purpose of sponsoring the Lyon
Township Downtown Development Authority's Music on the Grand, Volunteer Appreciation event;
further, approve and authorize the Board Chair to execute any required agreements on behalf of
Oakland County. Additionally, require that the recipient of the funds promote the County as a
primary sponsor and provide an impact report to the Board detailing the sponsorship outcomes,
including the number of residents served.

Project Overview: Community outdoor concert for the public featuring an Elton John Tribute Band.
This event will also serve as our volunteer appreciation night where we invite anyone who
volunteered with the DDA in the past year to attend and will receive a free dinner and gift (travel
bags and thank you cards)! We will also have games, water activities and Oakland County Parks
and Recreation RAPP Program is bringing out inflatable games. Event runs 6 - 8 pm. We expect
about 400-500 people to attend.

Detailed Timeline for Implementation: Event runs on August 14, 2024 from 6 - 8 pm, or 2 hours.
Planning has already begun.
Detail on Funding Partners or Matching Funds: OC RAPP Grant is providing inflatable
games/activities. OC Main Street Grant is being applied for to help offset the volunteer appreciation
portion of the evening.
Anticipated Impact and Evaluation: Community Special Event/Volunteer Recognition. The public
will benefit with a free evening of entertainment and activities for the entire family. Volunteers will
benefit from appreciation gifts and recognition. Downtown businesses benefit from the influx of
visitors who will be looking for places to visit and possibly eat or enjoy a drink before of after the
event.
