Project Overview: The second annual LVMF is a full day of music in the municipal park in Lathrup
Village. This event is sponsored and seed money is funded by the LVDDA (Lathrup Village
Downtown Development Authority), and is the organization's signature event of the year. Local
businesses are invited to set up and promote themselves, and a primary goal is to create exposure
for member businesses of the DDA. This is a free event.
The main focus of the event is music, and while there will be food trucks and supporting activities to
make for a fun day, the thing that sets the LVMF apart is the caliber and quality of the performers.
We are booking the best of the best performers from in and around Detroit, to bring a lineup that will
stand out from other summertime festivals.
Project Type: Sponsorship of an Event
Provide a proposed budget breakdown for the project: $25,000 for the total project and $10,000
from the Oakland County Board of Commissioners.
Provide a detailed timeline for implementation of the project: August 10, 2024
Provide detail on any possible funding partners or matching funds: While the DDA will make
the initial investment, we are also seeking outside resources to meet our budget. This will include
sponsorship opportunities, individuals from the residential community that are supporting the event,
and any public funds we are eligible for. No other matching money is available.
Describe the anticipated impact of the project and how its success will be evaluated: LVDDA,
and LV businesses will benefit directly from their participation and exposure. The residential
community will have a signature event to enjoy and add value to their community. Metro Detroit
residents will benefit by having a high-quality event to add to their summer calendar. The performers
will benefit as well, Detroit is a very difficult place to make a living as a musician, a good paying gig
is hard to find anywhere. We pay the artists a respectable rate as they see their value, and by
compensating artists well, it will build the reputation of the LVMF as a place that all the best artists
of the area will be interested in being a part of now and in future years.
The LVMF has several goals: Create exposure and opportunity for the Lathrup Village business
community. Establish a signature summer event for Lathrup Village as a whole, that will shine a light
on the community as a vibrant, forward looking place to live and work. Create a premiere event in
the metro Detroit music scene that features the A-list of area performers, that is an in-demand event
to be a part of both as a participant and attendee.
