Call Meeting to Order The Chair called the meeting of the Democratic Caucus to order at 5:10 PM in Committee Room A, 1200 N. Telegraph Road, 12E, Pontiac, MI 48341. 2. Roll Call MEMBERS PRESENT: David Woodward, Penny Luebs, Kristen Nelson, Gwen Markham, Angela Powell, Marcia Gershenson, Charles Cavell, Brendan Johnson, Ajay Raman, Ann Erickson Gault, Linnie Taylor (11) MEMBERS ABSENT WITH NOTICE: William Miller III, Yolanda Smith Charles (2) 3. Public Comment No one addressed the Caucus during Public Comment #1. 4. Approval of Minutes a. Board of Commissioners - dated June 13, 2024 Linnie Taylor moved approval of the Minutes dated June 13, 2024, as presented. Seconded by Penny Luebs. Motion Passed. A sufficient majority having voted in favor, the Minutes dated June 13, 2024 were approved, as presented. 5. Discussion Items Brendan Johnson addressed the Caucus regarding Economic Development and Infrastructure Committee item entitled: Executive's Office - Pontiac Redevelopment Project - Owner's Representative Contract, Architect/Engineer and Urban Planning Contract, and Community Engagement Contract. Discussion followed. Gwen Markham addressed the Caucus regarding Finance Committee item entitled: Management and Budget - Reclassification of Chief Procurement Officer as County Executive Appointed Non-Merit. Discussion followed. Gwen Markham addressed the Caucus regarding Finance Committee item entitled: Board of Commissioners - Sponsorship of the 2024 Arts, Beats & Eats Festival. She stated that this sponsorship will be written into next year's budget. Brendan Johnson addressed the Caucus regarding Legislative Affairs and Government Operations Committee item entitled: Board of Commissioners - Establish the Oakland County Student Debt Relief Initative. Discussion followed. David Woodward addressed the Caucus to inform the commissioners that the order of the agenda will be changed to accommodate the Executive Office's presentation. He also stated that Chris Long would like an immediate vote tonight on New and Miscellaneous Business item entitled: Sponsorship of the Commerce Township 2024 Concert Series Finale. Marcia Gershenson addressed the Caucus to suggest a change in the communication structure of the Budget Hearings. She also informed the commissioners that 90 guns and 4 automatic rifles were turned over and destroyed on site at the recent Southfield Gun Buyback Event. Lisa Brown, Oakland County Clerk/Register of Deeds addressed the Caucus to remind everyone currently running for office that Campaign Finance reports are due on July 26, 2024. Angela Powell addressed the Caucus to review the Caucus Memo of announcements and to request prayer for the family of Monica Hawes. Gwen Markham addressed the Caucus to remind everyone that the Oakland County Pioneer and Historical Society will be hosting their Annual Ice Cream Social on Saturday, July 27th. The Pontiac Transportation Museum will also have its ribbon cutting ceremony that day. David Woodward addressed the Caucus regarding the possibility of creating a cease-fire resolution. Discussion followed. 6. Public Comment No one addressed the Caucus during Public Comment #2. 7. Adjournment The meeting adjourned at 9:28 PM.
