Motion to approve the one-time allotment of $20,000 from the Fiscal Year 2024 Board of
Commissioners General Fund Special Projects line-item budget for the purpose of supporting the
development of the Charter Township of Royal Oak 5-Year Parks and Recreations Plan; further,
approve and authorize the Board Chair to execute any required agreements on behalf of Oakland
County.

Project Overview: Royal Oak Township, a designated Justice40 Community, will develop a long-
range Master Parks and Recreation Plan. The current plan is outdated (2012-2016). Starting in
February 2025, a long-term parks plan is required to qualify for DNR grant opportunities. This plan
will also aid in seeking other grant funding for parks and recreational facilities. The Township aims
to update the plan cost-effectively in conjunction with community development and housing
ordinance updates. This initiative is crucial for creating a healthy living environment for residents.

Parks and Recreation Plan by the Township. Funding Acquisition, success in securing grants for
parks and recreation based on the new plan.
