Motion to approve the request to reinstate security at the North Office building; further, to create two
(2) GF/GP PTNE 1,000 hours per year Court/Park Deputy positions in the Sheriff’s Office,
Courthouse Security Unit (#4030435); further, add two (2) body worn cameras, and two (2) prep
radios to inventory; further, amend the FY 2024 budget as detailed in the attached Schedule A.

INTRODUCTION AND BACKGROUND
The Sheriff’s Office has received a request to reinstate security at the North Office building with two
(2) PTNE Court Deputies.
The request for two PTNE Court/Park Deputies has been initiated from the Executive Office. The
State of Michigan previously provided private security; however, there were contractual language
issues regarding liability that could not be resolved.

REQUEST:
1. To create two (2) GF/GP PTNE 1,000 hours per year Court Park Deputy positions in the Sheriff’s
Office, Courthouse Security Unit (#4030435).
PROPOSED FUNDING:
General Fund.
OVERVIEW:
The Sheriff’s Office has received a request to reinstate security at the North Office building with two (2)
PTNE Court Deputies.
It is requested the Oakland County Board of Commissioners approves the request to reinstate security at
the North Office building. It is also requested to create two (2) GF/GP PTNE 1,000 hours per year Court
Park Deputy positions in the Sheriff’s Office, Courthouse Security Unit. It is requested that two (2) body
worn cameras, and two (2) prep radios be added to inventory. The FY 2024 budget is amended as detailed
in the attached Schedule A.
