ITEM CATEGORY SPONSORED BY Gift/Donation Penny Luebs INTRODUCTION AND BACKGROUND The Sheriff’s Office has received a donation of one (1) Labrador Retriever Canine from Newfound Retrievers with an estimated value of $4,500. Gram will be assigned to the Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue Team. Gram is trained in tracking and narcotics. POLICY ANALYSIS The donation is a gift in honor and memory of Deputy Robert Loken. If the Handler or K-9 Canine are retired, the Handler has the option to purchase the K-9 for $1.00 No additional funds will be required to cover the cost of food, veterinary care, grooming, boarding when necessary, equipment, and other related items because funds are included in the Oakland County Sheriff's Office K9 Unit FY 25 budget. Gram is from my litter that was whelped on November 22, 2023 and he is approximately 9.5 months of age as of the date of this letter. As the breeder and the sole owner of Newfound Retrievers, LLC, I verify that Gram has been donated to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Department K9 Unit to perform as a working K9 for the unit to train and use to fulfill the needs of the community as their department sees fit. The approximate value of this dog with current training and certifications is $4,500. I have not and do not ever expect to receive any monetary compensation for this dog now or in the future.
