INTRODUCTION AND BACKGROUND
Miscellaneous Resolution #19005 requires gift donations of $10,000 or more to be officially
acknowledged by the County and accepted by resolution. The Sheriff’s Office has been offered a
donation from the Detroit Athletic Club Foundation for the following items: two (2) rescue drones,
one (1) ATV trailer, rope rescue equipment, two (2) Scott air packs, and four (4) aviation helmets;
the equipment is valued at $100,000. The ongoing cost includes drone insurance, which will be
rebilled to the Sheriff’s Office through the insurance fund.
POLICY ANALYSIS
The Detroit Athletic Club Foundation partners with the Detroit Public Safety Foundation for the
execution of these donations. $100,000 would be transferred by the Detroit Athletic Club Foundation
to the Detroit Public Safety Foundation, which will coordinate the acquisition of the equipment with
the Oakland County Sheriff's Office and transfer the equipment for their use.
