Democratic Caucus Minutes
February 11, 2025 at 5:00 PM
1. Call Meeting to Order
Chair Angela Powell called the meeting of the Democratic Caucus to order at 05:21 PM in
Committee Room A 1200 N. Telegraph Road, 12E, Pontiac, MI 48341.
2. Roll Call
MEMBERS PRESENT: Charles Cavell, Ann Erickson Gault, Marcia Gershenson,
Brendan Johnson, Penny Luebs, William Miller, Angela Powell, Yolanda Smith Charles,
Linnie Taylor, David Woodward. (10)
MEMBERS ABSENT WITH NOTICE: Kristen Nelson, Gwen Markham (2)
3. Public Comment
No one addressed the Caucus during Public Comment #1.
4. Approval of Minutes
a. Board of Commissioners - dated January 23, 2025
Linnie Taylor moved approval of the Minutes dated January 23, 2025, as
presented. Seconded by William Miller.
Motion Passed.
A sufficient majority having voted in favor, the Minutes dated January 23, 2025,
were approved.
5. Discussion Items
Sean Carlson, Deputy County Executive addressed the Caucus to give a presentation on
the City of Pontiac redevelopment project.
Discussion followed.
Commissioner David Woodward addressed the Caucus to discuss Economic
Development and Infrastructure Committee item entitled: Renewal of Oakland County
Microloan Program.
Commissioner Yolanda Smith Charles addressed the Caucus regarding the appointments
on tonight's Board meeting agenda.
Discussion followed.
Commissioner Brendan Johnson addressed the Caucus to discuss Legislative Affairs and
Government Operations Committee item entitled: Oakland County Health Network
Appointment. He stated that three individuals are being recommended for reappointment
and one seat expires end of next month.
Discussion followed.
Commissioner Charles Cavell addressed the Caucus to discuss Public Health and Safety
Committee item entitled: Sheriff's Office - Interlocal Agreement with the City of
Birmingham to join the Oakland County Sheriff's Office Special Weapons and Tactics
Team (SWAT).
Discussion followed.
Commissioner David Woodward addressed the Caucus to announce a resolution will be
introduced during tonight's Board meeting entitled: Urging the Governor of the State of
Michigan to Grant a Pardon for Temujin Kensu.
Commissioner Charles Cavell addressed the Caucus regarding formulating a Caucus
strategy regarding changing federal policies.

Chair Angela Powell addressed the Caucus to read the Caucus announcements.
6. Public Comment
No one addressed the Caucus during Public Comment #2.

The meeting adjourned at 07:36 PM.
